How to Install Front Brake Rotors (Arashi Wave Rotor)

What's up their KZbinr's and fellow riders, you guys saw my product review of the Arashi Semi Floating wave rotor, if not you can catch it here.

If your looking to purchase a complete set of these rotors I got mine for $182 shipped on Amazon. They ship from China and take about 1 1/2 weeks to arrive. The seller was GZYF.
The pads that I use are HH Sinter. EBC makes a pair but are costly. I use a cheaper brand off eBay. Which ever way you go the HH simi metallic pad will give tremendous stopping power when you need it.
Few things to remember when installing:
*Make sure to clean the rotors with brake clean to remove the oil on the surface.
*Use blue lock tight to secure your bolts from accidentally backing out due to vibration.
*Change out your brake pads with every new rotor install. The old pads will have the imprint and groves left behind from the previous rotor and will not sit completely flush on the smooth surface of the new rotor.
*Torque spec: I generally use what's called the mechanics feel when torquing down my bolts, for the simple fact that I'm re-using old bolts that are bit more brittle do to heat. I find that using the service manual torque specs with used bolts will often snap causing more issues then good. Use good judgment and blue like tight and you'll be good.
*Give your new pads and rotors some break in time before hitting high speeds. 100-200 miles should be good. After all the last thing you want is to hit that lever in emergency situation and not slow down fast enough to get you out.

No plastic spacer/gasket on the wheel before the disc goes on?

There should be nothing in between the rotor and rim if that's what your asking.

I buy brand new rotors for my hornet 900 and after 600miles they start to making problems... Lever pulsing, .... ,on low speed my body (when i brake) going forward/back. Seams they get warped.

Well, this is a very old video and set. There ok if your on a budget and really need something to get you by. They have their issues like having to clean the buttons which I have a video on. They lasted for a few years but nothing like the OEMs. Those are maintenance-free. If you're not in a rush, I would say hold out and get yourself some EBCs or pickup a used set with some life on them from eBay.. again they may have changed over the years and could be better now.. but currently I still have a set but are not on my my bike because I did grab a used set of OEMs off eBay which I couldn't beat the price.

Arashi discs are good.. if your on a budget and don't want to spend the coin for the more expensive brands. I still have my set sitting off to the side in my garage, the disks are good but the bobbins rattle when you hit a bump and that was annoying me.. I don't like the sound so with that said over time they become full free floating... Not a bad thing . If you're on a budget I would suggest taking a trip to eBay and finding yourself a set of used OEM rotors that still have life in them. This is the option that I chose to go with now. Nothing beats the original manufacturer and they just last. If you're not racing then you will probably only need to change your rotors once in your bikes lifetime so make it count..

Whats up patronpusha. I've only had 2 weeks ride time with the Arashi rotors and I think there a great buy thus far. Mixed with the HH Sinter pads i get tremendous bit when it comes to braking, so much so that I had to relearn how much pressure to apply to the brake lever. Many Gixxers have the issue of the lever pulling back to far when applying pressure even after lever adjustment, some tend to think it has to do with brake line expansion or the caliper, this may be true in some cases. I mention this because I have noticed that the lever has moved up and I no longer have the longer travel path of the lever to the throttle when braking. It wasn't a real big deal but I just wanted to point that out. As for braking: I DON'T feel any pulsation when stopping (kinda like abs feeling), so that means that the rotor is cut evenly (smooth and flat) and the Simi Floating feature are working as it should. With that said, I think there a great buy and with only 2 weeks of ride time in I would already recommend, will just have to wait and see about longevity. I hope this helps you out.

james moreno hey thanks for the Info. I completely understand what you are saying about the lever play. I have a k5 600 I planned on upgrading my brake system all at once. I've been seeing these rotors floating around and they look solid. Going with new sb lines and these rotors and my recall on the master cylinder. But good video and thanks.

3 years later and I still have them and they work just fine. Over all this was a good buy and I'm sure by now probably an even better product.

It seams that rotor or rotors are wraped....i did not force front brake i brake normaly.... I dont know what happen to them...

I have a generic pin lift, nothing special.. there's a hole at the bottom of the triple that the pin goes in. Make for working on the whole front end a lot easier. amzn.to/3MlydGt
