I have viewed several videos about installing Front Pads and Rotors on GM trucks 08-14. This is by far the best one , most informative and have all the torque for the bolts. I will search the 1A Auto Parts videos for my other DYI projects for my 2013 Tahoe. Great job guys

Great job. Followed and had no problems. The caliper mounting bolts seem near impossible to move. I only had luck with an improvised breaker bar (3 ft piece of pipe and ratchet). I rounded out the stupid little torque screw and was told by a mechanic to just drill it out and not worry about replacing it because it because its only used was to hold the rotor in place when on the assembly line, the lug nuts should do just fine.

Wow. Very informative. Something that is interesting and quite surprising for me is the ease on “bleeding the breaks” part where u just pump the breaks. I guess that’s the great thing about these newer generation vehicles. I’m more confident now after this on changing mine. My 94 pick up was a nightmare

1 thing to keep in mind , at least for newer vehicles , sliding out the brake pads themselves is not easy as portayed in this video. The little bracket that holds the pads has a little tab that keeps the brake pads from sliding out. You can punch them out the opposite direction to remove them.

The official GM instructions say that the brake pads have adhesive on the back, but the original ones I took out didn't seem to have any adhesive residue on them and the new ACDelco ones didn't have any adhesive paper to peel off. In this video the guy also just put them in and that's it.

For reference, if you have a stuck rotor T30 screw. I use pb buster on front and back of screw, let it sit, hit the t30 screw with a hammer and punch on each side and use a 1/2” electric impact driver with a impact driver t30 bit. I recommend use a impact driver bit because a regular t30 bit did not survive. Took 2 mins max. For reference, I originally tried my 1/4” cordless impact driver but the T30 screw did not budge. So definitely use a 1/2 air or electric impact driver.

Thanks for the video. Do you think it's necessary to put thread lock on the bracket bolt ? If so why ?
@1AAuto6 жыл бұрын
+Eddie Abd Yes it is absolutely necessary to use thread locker when reinstalling the bolts. There is a lot of force put on your brakes, and if you do not use thread locker the bolts could back out over time, which could lead to disastrous results. 1aauto.com
@capitalr86496 жыл бұрын
I never had a bracket bolt thread out. I just use the old thread lock already on the bolt.
