ty so much for the detail of tools needed to do this. i came here for exactly that and went through a dozen videos that showed the work but did not describe what tools were needed.

Thanks to everyone who commented and said the instructions on this video are wrong regarding the front and back pads. I followed the instructions and was fighting to get the caliper on. Brakes felt like they were dragging a little. Luckily I only drove 50 miles before another video popped up in my feed discussing the pads being installed backwards. In just 50 miles the pistons on the calipers were already deformed from the brake pad rivet. 1a / auto, you need to correct this video. People are relying on the instructions being correct when they purchase parts from you.

Just use the 2-13mm bolts that hold the caliper on to pull the rotor.

Do you have a video on changing calipers and then bleeding the brakes on a 2014 Suburban LT 4x4 ? Thanks for this video!!!! Just changed out rear rotor!

Does it really matter that the wear indicator goes on the outside? I've seen other instructions that say put it on the inside. I understand that when the pad wears down the steel part rubs against the disk and makes a warning noise that the pad is worn. Jim

How come you don't the caliper and mount bracket off together so you don't have to remove caliper from the bracket
@DanBellJr Жыл бұрын
at 6:43 pads laying on the rotors shows new pad with wear indicator positioned on the inside. Maybe at 10:40 he was using a different set during install? Also does it matter that the wear indicator was on the bottom vs the top? Looks like installed on the bottom in video.

Great video! Could you elaborate on the "10 x 1.5 bolts"? Is that a 10mm bolt? Another video I found said that it is 3/8" . Your help is greatly appreciated.

Did you ever find out what size bolt he used? Is it a 10 mm with 1.5 mm thread pitch? I am heading to hardware store to get some before I take my truck apart. It's one of those times that I need to have all the parts before I take my truck apart or I end up stuck at home with a broken vehicle. My Ferrari is in the shop at the moment. ;)

I know for a fact the wear indicators go on the inside, piston pad wears the quickest most times. In the dealer service manual it also says. "The highest rate of wear normally occurs at the trailing edge of the disc brake pads." So you should worry about pad orientation and were the wear indicator is also. The pad wear indicators can go two different ways on the inside pad, trailing or leading edge. I would assume you would want them on trailing edge because that's where it wears quicker. I know the fronts work that way, just look at the old pads and see which has more wear leading or trailing. That's assuming all else is working properly.

Wear indicator goes on the inside next to the piston. Nubs on the pads gave him a hard time installing caliper and will prematurely wear pads and rotor due to pads will be squeezing rotor at an angle.
@normcorliss96083 жыл бұрын
Yes. I had a terrible time with it until I realized the nubs were in the way!

I’ve seen debate about weather to open the bleeder screw or not when compressing the caliper. Any thoughts and evidence to support it either way?
@StraightRazWhor4 жыл бұрын
No. Open the master cylinder cap, that way when you compress the caliper, the pressure doesn't build up
@rclark6414 жыл бұрын
I personally open the bleed screw and compress the piston. I also replace 100% of the fluid. The fluid is cheap and over time the fluid breaks down and gets contaminated.

FYI The pad with the wear indicator goes on the INSIDE . If you notice the outside pad has 2 little nipples on it. If you put this on the inside the nipples hit the caliper piston and cause the pad to wear uneven and it puts dimples in the caliper!!!

Is it necessary to take off the cap off the brake fluid container in the engine bay when compressing it back into place?
@joesrustyshutter31894 жыл бұрын
No, it is not necessary if the reservoir is not over the fill line before you begin. Joe
@sergeantspeed59412 жыл бұрын
This is old I know, but the system is pressurized. That cap is part of that pressurized system. Popping it off means you're not trying to fight it by compressing the air inside the reservoir. Instead it relieves pressure making it much easier to run the C clamp.

Wrong, pads are on the wrong sides. I am currently replacing calipers on my Tahoe because some idiot probably watched this video. Those nubs cracked my pistons they are supposed to go outside not on the side of the piston.
