Ian, Great step by step install of the signal lights/badge. Always a joy to watch your video's. Front flip bonnet is the way to go and can't wait to see the install. Stay warm.

Thank you for the encouraging words, Dan! Front flip install will be coming up shortly.

This was an edge of your seat episode with you using the metal pick to fit the lenses into the rubber housing. Glad you didn't slip and gouge the paint.

I was VERY careful while doing it. The pick was curved so that helped.

What about putting a piece of cord in first and pulling it out,as when installing a windshield glass replacement? Seems like that would be a simple hack to install those pieces.

Thanks for the suggestion Rick. I hadn't thought of that. I still have the lights to do on the back of the car so I may just give that method a try!

That original harness looks like a car fire to me! The new harness is very handsome indeed. Looks much safer. Do the screws under the lens matter? Should I buy "thin" headed #6 machine screws for those? Seems like it would give more room for the lens? The badges are expensive or unavailable. I believe I have one in the hoard, but good luck finding it. I'll have to do a deep diver with a dozen small totes (like you can see in your video in the background) to start piling parts in small task bins. I really appreciate how methodical and organized you have been this whole process.

Thanks Ken. The catalogs I've checked indicate a #6 x 1/2" self tapping pan head screw so that's what I used. I didn't find any interference between the lens and the screws.

Ian - where did you get the caps for side lamp bracket wires? Or did you have all the originals available to use and just cleaned them up?
@EconoboxGarage
@EconoboxGarage Жыл бұрын
I'm assuming you are referring to the sleeve connectors that the wire goes through and then gets inserted into the light socket. Those were the original ones that came with the car. They were all in good shape and I just cleaned them up as necessary.

Why did you bother with the old style indicator (signal) mount.. could you not get an LED style unit instead.. that old style wiring connectors is just hopeless..

Hi David, thanks for your question. I didn't find an alternate to just using an LED bulb in the original socket. I agree that these connections are a bit primitive but with a bit of fettling I'm confident that they're are as tight as they can be.

@@EconoboxGarage I would suggest for the next time you consider a light unit such as the RL91 or similar from Car Builder Solutions.. they look similar, as your not going for 100% original (you changed the rear light units) so why give yourself the reliability issue with these old style electrical connectors. I don't think its worth it

Something to consider down the road if I decide to upgrade. Thanks for the information.
