Difficult to remove is an understatement. This pump was one of the biggest pains I've ever had. Better than paying 900 for a fuel pump installation

Just changed fuel sensor, but this was all I needed. Couldn't find a Schrader Valve so had to figure out how to disconnect line from Fuel Rail. Everything else was fantastico.

Ten Things I wish I knew before starting this repair on my 2013 Sonata:1) The arrow stamped on the cover plate with the asymmetric mounting pattern is not an indication from Hyundai that they want this to go smoothly. 2) The white plug removes easily and completely, the cover does not swing up. Squeeze and pull. 3) Running the engine with the plugs out only depressurizes one line, to depressurize the other you need to open the gat tank fill cap. 4) That retainer ring is on TIGHT! "Rent" a tool to remove it before starting the repair. 5) Take a picture of the fuel pump unit before the two metal rods separate from the reservoir, note how many springs there are, mine came apart and I only found one spring in the tank. 6) Remove the big emissions line to get the pump assembly out. You will be able to reach it later. 7) The fuel pump unit will not come out without a fight! The reservoir is bigger then the hole, it must be pried out, it can take some abuse. Your video helped here! 8) The fuel pump reservoir holds a lot of fuel! 9) The retainer holding the big emissions line only goes on one way, flange side down I believe. 10) If the filter sock is on the bottom of the tank, it belongs on the unit.

Useful video but it did not mention removing the internal emissions line. and good luck with the locking ring! It took me several hours to beat mine around. I'd buy an adjustable retainer ring tool the next time I do this. Watch when reassembling that the gasket/oring is on.

Hi! I have a 2014 Elantra with 60Kmi which I have not used much since Covid. No check engine light. On Thanksgiving I drove 40 highway miles home - then it stalled once on a local roads at 30mph. Dash lights came on and engine shut off - but started right back up. Same on trip back. Same on Christmas. Could this be a fuel pump issue? A local mechanic says "No way fuel pump gonna go at only 60Kmi" and "fuel filter not gonna get clogged - it's in the tank" and "if fuel pump go - check engine light come on - we would get fuel sending error on computer". Please help! Thank you!

yes all Hyundai are built the same way. I think my pump just died. Data stream shows no pressure in the rail when the battery on and when i crank it. Debating if i wanna do this or take it somewhere to confirm the pump died. May get an hi flow pump from KDM tuners

Would this process and the fuel pump unit be the same for the GT hatchback version of this car? I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT with a fuel sender issue, but can't find any videos on replacing it, only on the regular Elantra model. Thanks

no matter the vehicle the pump and send will be in the same unit in the tank. You can remove the pump from that unit but you cannot remove the sender from the unit.
