As remember to replace the thermostat when replacing anything in the water-cooling system. And always replace the coolant when performing any service to the heating system .

MECHANICS READ THIS Lol replaced the water pump a few months ago maybe 4 now the pulley is not running in a true circle and is making an awful noise. Not losing any coolant going to replace this weekend again. Any ideas why this might have happened so i can correct the next install?

Thanks for the video dude 🤘 I replaced a radiator that had a cracked tank in my 01 Durango. Did all the work in an autozone parking lot, proceeded to get everything reinstalled.... and the water pump started leaking upon refilling the cooling system. Did a workaround with it (if you're in a pinch). I ended up snapping the spring assembly off of the radiator cap to allow pressure to directly bypass into the overflow tank. Since the overflow tank has a vent to the atmosphere, this has greatly reduced the leaking of the water pump due to the lack of a pressurized cooling system. What I've found is that with the vehicle running, the leakage is minimal, and the vehicle is drivable to an extent.(I average about 12 miles to work and it does perfectly fine/keeps the coolant under 210⁰) With this "fix" you'll need to keep at least two gallons of water or coolant on hand. Once the engine is off, it leaks like a sieve lol. Now that I'm finally delving into winter maintenance, I figured I should actually replace the water pump.

he didnt even bother to mention torque spec on the water pump nor the fact that the thermostat nipple breather should always be on the top before reinstall or that the gasket on the thermostat has a notch that has to go in a certain way and im just a DIY

Can I use a stock fuel pump on the 1987 305 block ? It is factory blocked off, and I do not know if you have a open block off plate or if there is even a drive lobe on the cam .
