[HOW TO] Install Gen5DIY DRL Relocation harness on a 2019+ Silverado LTD Custom (Headlight Removal)

I installed this Gen5DIY DRL Relocation Harness on my 2022 Silverado LTD Custom, so that I don't prematurely burn out my new Lasfit LED headlights. The factory DRL setting on these trucks is the low beam headlight, prolonged use of the factory DRL setting with upgraded headlights can prematurely burn them out. When you install this harness, the DRL gets relocated to the marker/turn signal lights on the headlight housing so that your LED headlights don't run all day long. Automatic headlight turn-on will remain intact, so when the sensor inside the cab reads it is dark out, the low beams wills till automatically come on. You can also go a step further and install LED marker/turn signal lights to give the front of the truck a sharper appearance with the new DRL.
This video also shows how to remove the grill and headlights from the vehicle to make this installation easier.

Not sure. It’s designed for OEM headlights.

I have a 2021 Silverado custom looking to get this done. Went to see if the dealership could shut these off using their software but they say since mine is a Canadian model or rather built here but shipped off to Canada then came back it’s mandatory to have the teatime runners on all the time so this is my only option.

Seems like a lot of work just to take some of the load off of the LED headlights. I replaced my halogen headlights with LEDs also in my 2021 Silverado. I don't think I'm going to worry about it because according to the LEDs that I bought they last 30,000 hours I don't think I'll be replacing them anytime soon and if I don't want them on I can just manually turn the drl's off with the light switch.😁

Personal preference I guess. I didn't want to have to turn them off manually, and I like the look of the side markers as DRL's better.

Hey where did you mount the relays ? I was thinking about getting some self tapping screws and Mount it to the fuse box. Gen5diy said you can Mount it to the side of the fuse box but it worry’s me

I think I zip tied it to a bracket in the space behind the passenger side headlight. Go to the 8:35 mark in the video and you’ll see

Is there a way to get the drl function to go to a led strip in aftermarket headlight housing?

I would think the aftermarket housing would have the wiring built in, but it really depends on the housing.
