A very nice and informative video. Two questions I have, though, are as follows: 1) What did you use for the white subroad material? and 2) Could I use this with sectional track such as Kato Unitrack?

Our apologies for the delayed response. The roadbed is made of an Incline/Decline Starter covered with Plaster Cloth. The Grade Crossings will work with Kato Unitrack.

If you use this with MTH O scale RealTrax you will have to cut back the grades wood planks inside the rails due to the flanges of a MTH freight car will not clear the flange way! Use a Dremel sanding tool or sanding paper or sanding block to cut it back so your flanges will clear! You will have to cut back past the rail plates on the crossties to make enough room! Do this before gluing down and check it a couple of times and make sure the car is not riding up or picking it and cause a derailment! It takes about 10 minutes to do it with a Dremel tool! After it clears flanges then glue it down! It is a must do!

What is the glue that you were using to glue down the shims and the crossings?

The instructions recommend cyanoacrylate adhesive (aka super glue/CA glue). We used the particular brand Zap-A-Gap Medium CA+ adhesive, however any brand of super glue/CA glue will work.

Can a rerailer section of track work as a grade crossing

Grade Crossings are designed to represent real grade crossings. Rerailers are designed to put a derailed train back on its tracks and look much different than a real grade crossing. Some modelers choose to modify their rerailers to make them look like grade crossings as a way to mask the rerailer’s presence on a layout. While this choice is entirely up to the modeler, we recommend using our Grade Crossings for the most realism.

I'm sorry, but our Grade Crossings are not compatible with Marklin HO 3-rail track. This type of track has electrical pick-ups that run down the center of the track. Our Grade Crossings would cover the electrical pick-ups.

The under structure of the road is one of our Inclines covered in Plaster Cloth to meet the height of the track. Then the Smooth-It was applied over top of the Plaster Cloth to create a smooth road.

Hello Luke...no, they are not available in a curved shape. We have had other modelers ask about making them curved. The problem is that there are too many different radii for track, that we could not possibly make them all. Blair Line makes curved grade crossings! I found them in Walthers catalog and on their website,and you can get them in the radius you need!

+Woodland Scenics when I get bachman train sets and I use my very detailed locomotives on the crossings the plows hit the plastic, so this video was very helpful for my problem.

Congratulations on introducing this product; sorry I am nearly 3 years late in viewing. I also like the fact that the narrator has nicely manicured finger nails and clean hands. It is very unappealing to see dirty hands in a scale model video; I think it sends a negative messenger about attention to detail of the manufacturer/seller. Respectfully submitted.
