I have used your SubTerrain foam products to create a raised level, and topped it off with 1/4 inch balsa + self adhesive carpet underlay foam, plus your own cork trackbed material. So far, so good. BUT as soon as I glue the track to the foundation as above, the noise level increases dramatically ? Just pinning the track down to the base stops the noise transference, but is not really very satisfactory from an accuracy of track position. I have tried almost every glue I can think of to fix the track to the trackbed as described, but they ALL seem to amplify the noise of train movement quite dramatically. Have you any ideas or suggestions ?

Hello! Woodland Scenics only manufactures foam Track-Bed, which has a very quiet operation. Cork is noisier than foam. Insulating hollow areas underneath your layout may help. However, there are many other factors that could be contributing to your noise problem. Please feel free to contact Consumer Services by calling 573-346-5555 or e-mail websales@woodlandscenics.com for additional help. Happy modeling!

I was thinking of using n-gauge in yards and HO on main line. Any suggestions on how to transition from HO to N?
@ModelSceneryExpert
@ModelSceneryExpert 3 жыл бұрын
Can you clarify your question? Are you saying you want to make HO scale track transition to N scale track? If so, we are unaware of any method to convert an HO scale track to an N scale track in a way that would be functional. The physical mechanisms of the two different sized scales simply won’t work together. Some modelers may use N scale track and trains to force perspective, using the N scale (smaller) in the background of the layout and the HO scale (bigger) in the foreground. However, the two different scales operate independent of each other on the layout. The two scales of track are not linked together. If you are looking for Track-Bed to fit in a smaller space in the rail yard, consider using our Track-Bed Super Sheets. This is an easy way to fill the rail yard with Track-Bed without having to glue several strips in a series to fill the space.

@@ModelSceneryExpert Thanks for the reply. No, not track. I'm using woodland scenics track-bed for my HO track. I want the yards to be lower roadbed, so I was going to use N scale track-bed for the yards. I have friends that do it with cork by sanding the cork to transition to lower roadbed height. I was asking if you had a suggested way to transition for HO Track-bed down to N scale Track bed. PS: Love your products.

@@davidgorman2665 For a smooth transition we think it would be best to use a hobby knife to trim the edge of the HO scale Track-Bed. Then you can lightly sand it for a smoother transition. You could also consider using Foam Putty or a plaster to smooth the transition area, but these materials may be susceptible to cracking.

I have these rolls ready to install on my layout. But a question, how do superelevation in curves?

Marcelo Model Trains Hello! You would apply it to steep grades in the same manner as Justin demonstrates on the flat surface in the video - 2:21 to 2:54. Separate the Track-Bed Roll into two sections along this score mark. Press sections in place separately, butting snugly side-by-side. Attach with Foam Tack Glue as instructed. Hope this answers your question!

For others asking this in 2020... Ron of Ron’s Trains N Things uses thin strips of painters tape. Cut tape 1/2 other width of the track, apply 3 to 4 layers. I would start with one layer at beginning of curve and add more the deeper you get into the curve.

@@samiam619 I've seen RTnT's video on that. Being someone who can't resist techie stuff, I would use that process but also use the tiny digital level that shows angles of inclination/declination in percentages rather than just a bubble. It's compact and can sit sideways across the track and also in the gauge for the risers measurement. I believe Ron also mentions the # of super-elevation degrees on entering and leaving the curve. I have one on order in preparation for my layout. Buying it from MicroMark (I am not affiliated with them nor get a fee - just an old model railroad fan getting back into this new world of trains).

Does this work with scenic cement?
@ModelSceneryExpert
@ModelSceneryExpert 3 жыл бұрын
Scenic Cement is a spray adhesive meant to penetrate landscape materials, like ballast, and seal in place. We do not recommend using it for this purpose. Foam Tack Glue is best for installing Track-Bed with the contact method described in the instructions. Scenic Glue could also be used but not with the contact method. If Scenic glue is used, you simply spread it on the area and place the Track-Bed.

Has anyone used this or the strips as actual roads or parkinglots?
@ModelSceneryExpert

We know some people have done it in the past, but we don't have any instructions for using Track-Bed for this purpose. We recommend using our Road System to build roads, parking lots and sidewalks. woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/category/RoadSystemTerrain

They all do that. They must think it adds something extra to the video. Not. Same thing with movies. A couple is having a discussion and the background music drowns out their words. And no CC on some streaming channels. I think it's Millennial crack-heads doing this. LOL

No offence meant but that did nothing to encourage me to use this product. It looked terrible when each piece was butted up. It looked misaligned with noticeable gaps and the long edge looked like it had been cut with a blunt knife. However, I do appreciate the video just didn't love the end result.

This is how one is intended to set it up before ballasting the track. The track bed will be covered up by the ballast
