As a non-dexterous young lady with who never took shop class: I always approach projects with my van with the complete and perfect understanding that there is a strong likelihood I will break something irreparably during the process. I am not a handy lady! Your tutorial kept me from fatally injuring my vehicle and myself, so thank you!

Thank you for the perfect, concise information on benefits / consequences of failing to line up the screws by hand first, when inserting the headlight. It sounds patronizing, but I would be "that guy" who strips out the screw landing, and it would fail to engage net time!! Very thoughtfully done, sir. I chose yours because it was short... now I see also concise. Not one second of my time was wasted. I've " liked" and subscribed today. People around used cars for sale all the time need to know how to fix cars. You rock!

I love how simple this design is. I want one of these vans. I like when the headlights are round or squarish because it makes replacing them easier. I her these new cars with the scowly narrow headlights are going to be fun to fix when they start getting older. Cars just get crappier and crappier.

Thank you for this video, including the tip on not touching the bulb! The person at the auto parts store included a small package of some special contact grease to keep moisture and corrosion out of the connection to the bulb. It looked like the original bulb did have this stuff on it so I did use it. Also, another comment below said to check the new bulb before putting the housing back in and I was glad I did, the first new bulb did not work but I had purchased the two pack so I tried the other bulb in the package and it worked fine. Saved a few minuets and returned the bad bulb and now I have an extra in the glove compartment just in case the other bulb goes out. Thanks again

CoolAuntSusie Haha! You are welcome. You are now on the path to becoming a regular mechanic!

This was very helpful as I wasn't sure how to get that retaining ring out without breaking it. One thing to mention for anyone in the South or any other humid environment, you need to apply electrical contact grease to the bulb prongs, to keep them from corroding and to make sure that you can disconnect it easily when it eventually has to be replaced again.

Getting those locking tabs to release is the hardest part. I spent several minutes with a screwdriver trying to get the tabs away from the bulb assembly. I think the trick is to keep twisting the bulb while you pry up the tabs in order to gain a bit of a start that you can keep working to free up the bulb. However, this was a walk in the park compared to changing the bulbs in my 2006 or 2009 Prius.

Trying to do this right now but I cannot get that ring to twist off, we have had an assload of snow in the last month and this vehicle has been sitting outside the whole time and hasn’t been run that much, I think moisture has gotten in there and frozen. Thinking about either using a hair dryer or disconnecting the electrical connections for both the head lamp and the turning bulb and bringing it inside to warm up.

Do you have anything for 2012 caravan? Most guides say just rotate the socket and pull it out. That works fine on the driver side but, unless you are plastic man, it's almost impossible to reach the socket on the passenger side. What can be easily removed to give access?

very good...i have an additional problem you may be able to help me with. When my park lights or low beams are on, one of my beams does not light up.....same when my low beam headlights are on, but when I turn on my high beams , the opposite lights engages and the other side now seems to be burnt out. I have bought and replaced new bulbs three times with no avail, could this be my high beam switch or a relay switch or something else....thank you for your considerations....regards ...Peter
@bobbarrow84929 жыл бұрын
+Peter Lykow I have the same problem, did you find a solution??
@FogoFox8 жыл бұрын
Crazy. I hate electrical problems, but from what I know about them, the first thing people say to check is for a good "ground" connection. After that, shooting in the dark, I think you are on the right track looking at the relays. They should be pretty cheap to replace or fairly simple to troubleshoot if you just pull them out and test them on the bench...
