How to Install Hurricane Panels

Chief Engineer of Assured Storm Protection, Keith McBride, shows you how to install various types of hurricane panels; like the header with studded angles, and horizontal with studded angles hurricane panels.
For the vertical storm shutter, secure the top of the shutter onto the track, then line the bottom up with the hole for the bolt and nut secure the shutter in place, and you're ready for the coming storm.
For the horizontal shutter, its easier with 2 people, but its possible to do it with one. You can start from the top or bottom, but its easiest from the bottom up.. Secure the hurricane shutters by aligning shutter to the recesses and securing the bolts..

Yes, I think most know how to put on a wing nut! How about starting with step one, installing the rails???

you put the panel upside down. the wingnut should be on the slot not the hole. if you turn the panels around the bolts and wingnuts will be in the slot, proper.

You would think the chief engineer would know not to put the panels on upside down.

I’m no expert, but I think those were up side down. Does it matter? I don’t know.

First thing I noticed is that you have those panels upside down...and I'm not an "expert." Your wing nut should always go over the "thin" part of the keyhole.

Would have been a bit more helpful if he had shown how to measure the placement of the header and the studded angle, instead of simply putting the panels in place, upside down.
