Any problems with the lights not working when you have heat in there? I know I used a battery operated led last year which worked okay but it would get extremely hot and the batteries burned out fast with the heat on .

I’ve never ever had any problem with anything overheating and the LEDs are perfect and they work great every year.

I like it! A couple of questions. What kind of thread/rope did you use to wrap around the LED strip to the metal pole? Why 2 runs and not just one on each roof pole, these lights are WAY bright. I currently use a 2' LED strip in my 949i . Do you place the house back in the bag coming off the Lake? I dislike the bag and when frosty I lay the house in bed of truck. My concern there is the LED strips holding up.

Just normal strong thread, its nice having more light especially when its pitch black out. I have a Honda CRV so I have to put it back in the bag. Everything fits tight in my car. Not enough room to not put it in the bag.

I used my tent almost every weekend last winter and never had a problem with the lights. I thought of another idea this summer, I could just store the lights in a 5 gallon bucket and then clip them up every time.... just another idea, Im glad that I hung them though cause its one less thing to do and it was a fun project.

Yes, led lights don't too much juice to light up. I can go out fishing a couple of times before I need to recharge the battery.

Cool video. I've been wondering how to light up my 949i. How did these lights hold up over time setting up and taking Down? Anything u would do different?

Tyler Whiteley I liked how I did this and never had a problem over the season. If I was to do it all over again, I would see if I could have ordered four separate led lights that were the length that I was looking for. Although I did have fun making this project. I kind of like that I mounted them in the tent because they are always there. Thanks for asking and good luck with your project. Send us a picture when you are done.

Was just re watching after I checked out the shopping list. Why did you cut the white plug off and solder vs. Using the plug??? Waterproofing? I'm not familiar with these so just asking all I can before I try it

I watched a few videos about those white plugs and people seemed to think that they weren’t very durable, especially if you are going to be moving around with your tent in and out of the bag. I figured that I should make a more secure connection.

Twin Cities Adventures When I added led strips to my hub I assumed the white clips would be good enough. For the life of me, I can’t see how anyone could get them to work. Especially in a hub house with the pole flex during setup/teardown. Most of them didn’t even work sitting motionless on my bench. I had to solder them and it has proven to be the much better option. Then heatshrink the connection and good to go.

It held up just fine last year. We went out at least 25 times. thats putting the tent up and tearing it down plus we always set the tent up again in the basement when we get home so the tent can air out because it gets covered in frost. Last year it got down to 10 below zero many times and when we use the heater, It gets frosty...
