One thing I discovered in the process is that on certain systems, it is not enough to merely turn off bit-locker through the terminal, windows automatically enables it after every restart. I had to go into the windows settings and find the "encryption" section. Once there, you have to click the bar where is says enable bit-locker. From there it will go through and decrypt your computer which takes about a half an hour but it worked and I could finally move on in the installation process.

Hi! i kinda have a problem where i am stuck at phase 4 of installation that says "updates and other software", i did select default installation and it just stuck there Apparently even before booting into ubuntu there's some command lines that kinda says "command error: read PMA" and "ACPI bios error:(bug)" My drive is clean( but its HDD) and doesn't have any issues

Thank you so much dude, initially i got the error like "casper/vmlinuz not found" i taught there was some problem while moving the file, then figured out that vmlinuz file was not imported properly while booting the usb, again booted the usb and started the laptop, it worked properly without any issues❤

You have to turn off bitlocker from windows settings as well. Settings > Privacy and security > disk encryption or smthn and then turn off... took 20mins for me to turn off..only after that i was able to proceed with ubuntu installation on hp victus

Try these steps: Check BIOS/UEFI settings to ensure USB boot is enabled and Secure Boot is disabled. Use a different USB port, preferably USB 2.0. If it still doesn’t work, recreate the bootable USB-sometimes, simply recreating it fixes the issue.

I cant successfully run the rufus in my old LG laptop under Window Vista. When I double clikked the rufus-4.5p, it popped out a comment "the file cant work due win32" something like that. So I use another computer to get the boot USB.

You should've explaining other options in applications and updates. Additional media formats kinda speaks for itself, but 3rd party software can be important for Nvidia users, as it can (sometimes can't) install best available drivers for a video card and other compatible devices.

This might be an issue with specific hardware, but I've tried many Linux distributions on two laptops and never found a working fingerprint option. For me, it's not working. However, I've seen people online mentioning that they have fingerprint support in Ubuntu or other distros. I'd say give it a try and see if it works for you.As for touchscreen support, Ubuntu does support it, but I haven't tested it myself since I don't have a touchscreen device.

Boot from the live flash drive again, see if you can reach the install screen without errors. If not, Try making bootable flash drive again. If it still fails, your hardware may be incompatible - search online for known issues with your PC model. As a last resort, try a different Linux distro such as Linux Mint, Fedora, popOS.

I'm really sorry for the trouble you're facing. If you have your bootable USB pendrive, could you please try powering off your computer and then booting directly into the boot menu? Just make sure to insert the USB drive right after pressing the power button. If you're still having issues, it might be worth checking if the USB drive is fitting snugly into the port. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause these kinds of problems.If that doesn't solve it, perhaps trying on another PC to recreate the bootable USB could help. Don't worry, changing operating systems can be a bit tricky sometimes
