Recomended best practice is checking to ensure power is disconected. (I know but your presenting to public) I prefer removing ground last (installing first). I like to give any nuts/wagos found in back of box a little tug test on service jobs. Nice work, I'm just a bit nit-picky.

Seems pretty straight forward what if I have two switches that control a set of lights ie in my hallway or staircase (bottom and top of staircase)?
@KylersStudio2 жыл бұрын
The three way switch just has one switch hard wired to a dimmer, and you can use a pico remote mounted to the wall for the other side.

I have 3 wires on my old switch plus the ground wire. 2 black wires I can unscrew on the right side, the ground wire I can in screw on the left but there is a 4th black wire that goes into the back of the switch through a hole and there is no screw. How do I take that wire out and where can I place it on the new Lutron switch???

You will need to figure out what that additional wire is for...is it a wire coming from your switch and leaving out the box without a connection (if so, that sounds sketch). There is usually a purpose for every wire, like running to a different box, or light, or outlet, or maybe a neutral that isn't colored properly. You may need some testers to figure it out. If it's truly an extra wire, you can cap it off, but you also may want to consult an electrician if you're not sure.

Hi, i am using Smartthings v3 hub, can i set an automation to turn on a group of light through lutron dimable switch in particular brightness and specific time when a motion sensor detected a movement? or if it doesn't work on smartthings, can you do it on lutron app? thanks in advance for the answer

Yes, you should be able to do it, but different products have different abilities; you're right to just line those things up with the platform that will best get you what you want. Oftentimes you get additional functionality out of the manufacturer's app, but it is very specific to your product models and platform.

HI, thanks for the video. One question what is the model of the kobalt screw driver you're using? I used to have that one and it was probably one of the best screwdrivers I've ever had. Lost it at a job site and now I'm trying to purchase another one like it but can't seem to find it even at lowes or the website.

It's the Kobalt double drive. Lowes or Amazon has it.

Hi, I have a switch that comes with 1 red and one black, what does that mean? Can I still wire them without pay attention to the color since my smart switch comes with two black wires? Thanks

Those are great questions. If it's just a single pole light switch, then it doesn't matter which two (not ground) wires you put to each side of the light switch. That is said with the caveat that I don't see it, and I'm not an electrician, so take that for what it's worth. Did you get it to work?

Hi electrician here, if your main is coming from your light , they use the 2 travellers as black/red and they got the white to have a neutral in your switch. Power comes down by black, gets into the switch then goes back up by to your light fixture with red. Bringing down a neutral can be used to add an outlet or maybe done because another switch is there to control a light🤷♂️ hard to tell without more details, but in doubt, call an electrician. Some dimmers also require a neutral

Which screwdriver size should I buy for this installv

The front is a standard flat head, the back to pull the wires out is a very small one..that comes in those little micro sets.

Electrical Tape those wire nuts in place. An extra step but safety is the top priority.
@KylersStudio4 жыл бұрын
You don't need to add electrical tape to wire nuts. Just make sure the bare wire isn't coming out and they are twisted on tight. Save your money.
