This video was a great help, especially for anyone looking to install the OEM M Performance aluminum pedals (not the knock-offs that slide on). I installed these on my F80 M3 and they look great. Much improved over the stock rubber pedals.

VERY much appreciated this video, and all the detailed explanation about drill bit sizes etc .... HOWEVER, this install is not nearly as easy as it seems. Getting behind the new pedals to attach the nuts to the screws is incredibly difficult. There's virtually no room to maneuver, especially on the brake pedal, and you need to do it only by feel from behind. I had to do the clutch pedal too. Doable, of course, but this video makes it seem like a piece of cake. It's actually pretty tricky.

Excellent demonstration. When you drilled the holes for the gas pedal, did you go straight through?

I did go straight through. The drill bit is slightly smaller than the screw so when you screw it in it will go in tight and will hold great

The top screw hole in mine is too close to the brake pedal lever, you didn't have any issues getting the nut in behind there? Mine will not fit

I've heard drilling through these pedals can be a real pain in the ass. What brand/type of bits did you use? Did you have any difficulty getting through the metal?

The trick is making a small home and then widening it with a bigger bit. I used some Milwaukee drill bits I had sitting around. Also use low torque rather than high speed. Let the bit cut into the metal. High speed just heats up the metal and dulls out the drill bit

use a hole puncher first to guide the drill bit.

I've read that the brake pedal is difficult to drill through (breaking drill bits etc) but you didn't seem to have any trouble. Was it as easy as it looks? I'm a bit nervous about messing up the drill holes!

@Simon Chandler It’s really easy if you go small and then widen the hole. Also go slow and allow the torque of the drill and the bit to do the drilling. Don’t be nervous just take your time make sure the rubber boot is on right and mark the holes.

@joe it’s a hit or a miss. Really depends on the shoes you wear. I have some pairs that when wet hate the pedals and I got others that grip just fine.

The brake pedal is a huge pain in the ass to do! It’s damn near impossible to get a 7mm socket behind the the pedal. Andddd there is a hole behind the pedal. 2 of those 7mm nuts feel into the hole. Lol
