Hi Watched your video in full few notes I wanted to mention you didn’t do a pressure test or vacuum machine nor you’ve used the thread sealer in case of any leak on high pressure tube pipes I’m amazed according to what you’ve mentioned the pressure nut is running well after 12 months since been installed

Mr Cool DIY are precharged with refrigerant and have a proprietary connector. No vacuuming, pressure testing, nor thread sealer needed.

Does the black electrical wire that leaves the outdoor unit and goes through the lineset cover to the inside unit need to have some sort of flexible conduit on it in the area between the outdoor unit and the lineset cover? At 23:28 it is shown exiting the outdoor unit with no conduit and not grommet of any kind to protect it from the metal cover of the outdoor unit. I'm getting ready to install one of these units and I hadn't thought of adding the conduit until I saw someone mention it elsewhere. But it seems like a good idea.

@@shanefrank3281 Yes! Maybe you’ve already seen and commented on that one too. I talked about flexible conduit (liquid tight tubing) in that video after someone recommended I use it to protect the control wire from the elements.

Do you have an issue with the angle of the louver (the piece that swings up and down to let air flow) when using Cool mode vs Heat mode? On my MRCOOL, when I'm in Cool mode, the louver stops about half-way down and swings back up. In heat mode, the louver swings all the way down, parallel to the wall, and swings back up, only stopping half-way, and swinging back down again. Do you have this issue or is this expected functionality?

Good question! I have had some issues with that as well. I plan to do a review of the system and mention some of the drawbacks I've noticed that could use improvement, and that is one. As far as troubleshooting, Mr Cool has some resources that have helped me (such as their forums or FAQ), and Ingram's Water and Air has also been super helpful answering questions.

Not sure that these are the Panasonic internals, if so you may need a firmware upgrade as mine was doing some weird things. Ended up with a firmware upgrade... All good now.

You sure that lineset didn’t get Kinked? Pushing it down that hard? That would restrict the refrigeration flow. I would recommend a copper tube bender next time to avoid that. Tightening the fittings on the lineset needs to be done with a torque wrench per specifications of the manufacture in the manual. And also coiling up the Line set vertical can cause oil traps. They need to be coiled horizontally. You won’t get oil back to the compressor and it will damage the compressor in the outdoor unit. I’m an HVAC instructor just throwing out helpful advice for future projects.

Thanks for the advice! Could you elaborate on the oil item you mentioned about the coiled lineset? I didn’t quite follow. Also, the bending method I used is recommended by the manufacturer since the line sets are pre-packed in their protective weatherproof sleeve. You wouldn’t be able to use a tube bender for these properly. As for the torque wrench, that may be a good extra step for peace of mind, but I got a good seal on it with the manufacturer instructions alone, which recommends a specific process as well as a check.

I definitely agree, and you can always cut that uv wrap/ insulation and just zip tie it back together to check for kinks. Better to be safe than sorry
