Anyone know what that sealant strip is actually called? Seems much easier than silicone. All I get when I search is foam strips and thats a stupid idea.

An extremely slow video about screws, and gloves and polystyrene I missed the nanosecond though where the gas was actually connected - any help?

Make sure your home insurance covers gas explosions. In all seriousness you shouldn't attempt to connect gas appliances yourself. Get a trained and qualified professional in.

Please have a look on 3:55. The on screen text is telling that only authorized persons should connect gas and electricity. If I remember correctly, companies showing this for their appliances often receive severe penalties, depending on the state laws and EU regulations. So, they aren't allowed show it even if they would like to do that or not...

All hobs seem to come supplied with these sealant strips. They are too thick and never cure, so the end result is an unattractive thick line of sticky gunge. I say unattractive, but not if you are one of the many crumbs of food spilled during cooking. Why not bed the hob on a bead of clear silicone, and wipe off the excess. This will allow the hob to sit tighter against the worktop, and the silicone will cure to a thin invisible strip that is easy to wipe clean. Am I missing something?

Unless you’re a qualified gas engineer, don’t even think about connecting the pipe
