How To Install Nest Doorbell (Battery Version) Wired To Chime & Charging

Thank you for this video. Many of the other ones are just way more information that I needed and you got right to the point. I have the battery one and I was searching for a nest connector part which Google said was necessary to connect to the transformer but it was not in the box and that's because they don't provide it anymore, yet their instruction video says it's needed. It's very confusing but you made it much less confusing.

This was perfect thank you for posting - the instructions and install was a bit confusing but this video explained everything - (the part I breezed by was during the install of the device choose "wired" instead of battery, made all the difference)

Your video and explanation is spot on however in our home it is inaccurate. our WIRED google ring camera has to be charged. I have no clue how to charge it because it is HARD WIRED to the wall and frame but ADT tells me, "it has to be charged!" I asked them how do I charge something that is HARD WIRED to LIVE electrical wires..... I asked them "do I use scissors to cut is off?" then I asked, "where do I plug the charger in on the device?" followed up with, "the box never had any chargers nor cables for charging. Plus the technician told me 'it is hard wired there is no need to charge it.'" you sir did well - however companies fall short. good luck to you sir.

I have my net doorbell installed initially without a chime, just with nest speakers, but now I would like to have a chime. However, I don't know who to wire the chime to the doorbell. Can you share how to do so please?

Did you have to install the adapter in your chime box or is that only required for the non battery powered doorbell camera?

Hello, thank you for you video it was very helpfull. I wanted to ask you where does you doorbell sound when you ring it? I want the doorbell to ring on my iphone, like using my iphone as the chime, but cant manage to do so. Video works, notifications work, but I cant make it ring on my iphone or ipads. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Why is my option to turn on the indoor chime greyed out? I have it hooked up and followed these exact steps but now the indoor chime won't work. It worked before we set the doorbell up with the Google Home.

hard wired but it still will operate only battery mode and doesn't charge... do you know why?

@TomOhio9 Yes I did. I figured out issue. I was using a plug in transformer which wasn't the issue but the issue was the outlet itself being an old house did not have an available 3 prong outlet. Had to get a long extension cord to reach an outlet with 3 prongs. I did however i did return it and switched to the Eufy dual camera doorbell. Didn't want to pay for the subscription stuff that eufy includes for free.

I have mine wired like this and still have to charge it like once a year. Just saying that its not 100% that you wont have to charge it ever again.

You will most likely need to upgrade the chime transformer to 16-24v / 30-40VA. Anything lower will not charge the doorbell sufficiently

THAT'S CRAZY how close the set screws are to each other. Wouldn't take much for a small arc to make the doorbell chime go off

Theres a little raised plastic tab that separates the terminals/connectors from each other, the key is to only have enough copper exposed to wrap around the screw, and bend a nice "u" in the wire that conforms well to the screw. also bend the wires before placing them over the screw heads so the tightening action of the screw grips the copper of the wire just tight enough to do the job. (rightie tightie);] What also helps is the fact that The little screws have a very wide head allowing them to grip onto the wiring well. The size of the wiring coming from the transformer can have alot to do with it, as well and whether its stranded or solid, mostly those small wires are solid but you never know.. Make sure you're not supplying more than 24 volts, check your transformer output at transformer and wiring at bell..

Those features are "2 sec preview and extended clips" & "Continuous video recording with Nest Aware Plus" Planning to buy and use it in India with extract electrical requirement mentioned by Google.
