Thank you for that. I found the answer, after watching five videos, on how to fit the 15 mm pipe to the tap by using an elbow plate. Brilliant.

Brilliant - thanks. I wasn't using enough PTFE tape and the tap kept ending-up pointing sideways ;-)

I found You do need all that tape with this tap and wall mount, otherwise if you wind it right down to the last thread to tighten, then the tap points off to the left. If you turn it back a bit to center it, then it leaks👍
@antoniogalluccio42133 жыл бұрын
There is loctite 55.. it is more tight than PTFE tape and you can back it up 1/4 turn if you need to center it. A bit more expensive but perfect every time.

Thanks that was great--very helpful. And yes you do need a lot of tape to get the tap straight, 7 turns did for me.

Before puting the PTFE tape on, first count how many turns tap will go then finally use enough PTFE tape and start screwing tap on the plate and stop on desired position in final turn, hope it will be tight enough so wont leak.

Useful tip, but how do you calculate out much tape is "enough"? Is the amount of tape related to the number of turns? In the past, I've generally wound the tape around only 2-3 times, or at most 4, so I was amazed at how much tape he put on. It would be great to have a rule of thumb or a method of calculating how much tape in different circumstances.
@jayseabie215 Жыл бұрын
Will freeze and burst in the winter, even if insulted and turned off from inside and the tap is then opened as taps with check valves in them don't drain out completely.

Good morning i have a tap in garden and the water is constantly dripping from tap. I have never used my garden tap and therefore i want to isolate it but unfortunately i can't find my isolation tap. I have checked underneath the kitchen sink but there is No pipe and valve for garden tap. Please advise me. Many Thanks.
@Beaujangles7154 жыл бұрын
The isolation valve will be on the pipe from the tap itself. Follow the pipe where it enters the house, when you find the valve use a flat head screwdriver to turn off. Usually half a turn does it but turn the tap on to check. Hope that helps
@jeremyturner85093 жыл бұрын
Should be isolating valve and non return valve on the inside 😉

You installed the wrong type of tap. Tap with built in check valve can only be used to replace an existing tap with built in check if first tap was installed before 1999. New tap installation must be tap without built in check valve. A check valve must be fitted within building in a place it will not freeze. Change in regs is due to no one drains the water from the check valve draining nut under tap in winter. Water within check valve then freezes which damages check valve mechanism rendering unable to act as back flow preventer allowing contamination into internal pipe work. If in doubt consult a qualified plumber.

Render on the wall is all burst. Drill the hole from the outside of the property to the inside and this doesn't happen. Why have all that copper pipe showing that can freeze in the Winter? All you need is soldered street elbow coming out of the wall and tightened into the wall plate. A chrome wall plate on a brass bib tap?
@jbhoyceltic48065 жыл бұрын
You make a video then
@sinista65365 жыл бұрын
Jbhoy Celtic Someone’s touchy, giving the same reply to every negative comment. I don’t need to be a chef to know food tastes bad and I don’t need to be a plumber to know when a pipes leaking. People can give criticism and improvements without having to film and upload a video themselves. People wanting to know how to install a tap need to know how to do it properly, and if theirs a better way, I’d like to know. Hence why comments like the ones above are helpful
@lukenfoci5 жыл бұрын
I agree with you in everything BUT - you should really drain your taps before winter, so no issue with water freezing in pipes ;).
