This was the very best video I found on KZbin and the entire internet for the job that had been plaguing me for hours. I needed an easy installation video for a beginner, and this one was the most helpful for my needs. Bravo! I was able to fully install a faucet and connect it to the sink drain for the first time, but only because of the careful and patience guidance. Thank you for being so helpful!!

The pitch of the pipes is way off. Water flows down not up. The black pipe needs to be pitched higher which means cutting more off the downward pipe from the sink.
@AlkalineInsides Жыл бұрын
The downward pipe from the sink, as in the pipe attached to the sink needs to be cut?
@CT808 Жыл бұрын
@@AlkalineInsides Yes. Shortening that pipe slightly will angle the black pipe upwards slightly so water will slope towards the wall.

I did twin faucets in my owner's bathroom and for one reused my old one after cleaning, but I had to buy it separately for a the second one since the vertical drain extension was too short. They sell them in 6 or 12 inch lengths at Home Depot. I cut with a hacksaw to size, similar saw he had.

Nice video, man. Question. I just installed a new sink and I noticed the sink drain hole and the p-trap do not line up. The previous owners did a bathroom remodel and used black pvc pipe. I’m assuming the holes aren’t lining up due to piping being customized for copper sinks they installed. I heard flex pipe is no good, so would I need to redo the entire piping in order to line up the holes?
@kennywonderley58833 жыл бұрын
I assume you are saying the pipe straight down from the sink hole does not line up with the drain hole in the wall. That's a common issue for one drain and they rarely match perfectly. If you have a kitchen sink with 2 drains it is always an issue. However, it's not a problem. The p trap itself is in 2 pieces for just that reason. Those 2 pieces can swivel into any position to create an angle that works for you. All that matters is that you have a p shape to trap water in the drain line and prevent gases or bugs from entering the house via the drain.

The pipe coming down from my new sink drain does not line up with the p trap. Is my only option to cut the pipe coming from the wall and add a small section? I hate to do this because the last plumber added a contraption with metal fasteners there! Thank you for any help. Would love to see another video with this sort of mismatch addressed.

Yes unfortunately will need to add a section of tubing and bring out the connection where it does match with the down tube from the sink.

the p-trap arm was already in place so was the video doesn't cover how to install that. Is it supposed to have a slight slope? We are having slow drainage that we know is not due to a clog in the pipe or vent and was reading that if the ptrap arm is level or sloped towards the ptrap that it will cause the same issue as not having an overflow. Can you confirm this is correct before we take our pipe apart?

Why did u not put any pipe glue/dope/lube?
@FixThisHouse3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I don’t put pipe dope on p-trap because the one I used uses a slip nut. It comes with a rubber gasket on the inside that seals the joints when tightened. You only topically use pipe dope for pipes under pressure. P-traps are not under pressure. These joints need to be able to be disconnected with slip nuts in order to be disassembled quickly incase you need to unclog the p trap or replace it for convenience.
@MusicVideoFavorites123 Жыл бұрын
Those joints are made by compression via. a compression washer or the molded tapered end of the J-tube portion of the p-trap assembly, no Teflon tape or plumbers putty required.
@christopherboatmun8262 Жыл бұрын
