How to Install PhotoGIMP (MAC) | Easiest Way to Switch from Photoshop to GIMP

In this GIMP tutorial, I show you how to download and install PhotoGIMP for MAC. PhotoGIMP is a free patch that customizes the GIMP user interface to emulate Photoshop's, while also changing GIMP's default shortcuts to match those of Photoshop. This patch makes it easy for longtime Photoshop users to switch to GIMP without having to relearn all the shortcuts, etc.
The patch comes with thousands of pre-installed fonts and some third-party brushes, as well as some popular Python filters like "Heal Selection" (from the Resynthesizer plugin).
Veteran GIMP users may also like the cleaner look and feel of this patch. However, I must note I will not be using this set up for future tutorials.

Thanks for the tutorial! Just a word of advice, it's typically a better idea to simply rename the old 2.10 folder as 2.10.bak rather than copying it somewhere else entirely. Appending .bak is pretty well-known, and it's a good indicator that it's a stable or non-modified version, if anything goes wrong after an update or something. Plus, you won't have to go searching for the copied original in another folder...

To get to the library folder quickly, just open a finder window and click on the go menu option. Once the menu displays, press the option key and you will see the option for Library appear. This will take you to the same place as typing the command you used in your video.

The elephant in the room is this question: could PhotoGIMP be better utilized (and possibly bringing in more downloads) the other way around, as training wheels for Photoshop [which many employers in media would like to see proficiency in]?

Followed the tutorial and the loading screen has changed to photogimp but the interface still looks like the original.

This patch for Gimp was originally developed by a Linux user. You can find install instructions for the flatpak version of Gimp in the project's github folder.
