Installed garage doors for 24 years ,you should use a dry lube. Any liquid lube will just hold dirt and dust causing more damage. lube rollers not the track.
@edp97432 жыл бұрын
The roller axels need to slide in the hinges as well , no lube on the tracks.
@chuck0209502 жыл бұрын
I have found that spraying lube on tracks helps to attack dust and dirt. To quiet rollers switch out to plastic rollers, so much more quiet.
@SpencerLawnCare2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that tip
@NoName-jp8tk2 жыл бұрын
Spraying the track is actually counterproductive. It attracts dirt and grime. You want to take a rag and clean the tracks from all debris and grease. Spray your hinge joints only or bearings on a roller if metal rollers. If plastic rollers, then no lube necessary. Also on spring loaded doors you can lube up the top roller springs above the door and if an auto opener is attached then lube your chain too.

Plastic rollers lasted on my garage two years. They don't like the cold weather.

@@SpencerLawnCare You can actually by a "Dry Film Type Spray" that I use for spraying on to the top of my table saw. One of the brands is: Shield It. This spray is meant for applications where you want to lubricate something without it having a Oil Residue to attract dirt build up and such.

We use the plastic tube markers. They are around 24” long and hold up really well. I’ve pushed a v plow full of wet snow over and past them and they pop right back up. Most of the time they can be reused every year.
@Dale.Nienow2 жыл бұрын
Great video Shawn and TQ, you can also use liquid wrench on your garage doors tracks but make sure it is silicone like you had, don’t use wd-40 my uncle owns a garage door service company! I use plow right marking stakes and they have an awesome tool to push them into the ground, and a backpack bag to keep your stakes in!

sorry to criticize, but you always talk about how time is money and not having tools with you to take care of those "little things" as you come across them means you either forget them or have to return to do them. A tool box in each vehicle is a must as is a short step stool, etc.
