I know what you mean. We often get days like that, especially when the boss asks how long it will take then you hit problems and need another half day to finish, panic sets in as he already books in a new job for tomorrow! Keep up the great work and carry on regardless.👍👍👍.

I have never been able to say my jaw literally dropped watching something before now… but 3 mins in, when it showed the 2.5 T&E just laying in the ground with a junction box connection just there on the damp leaves, it actually happened for the first time ever.

I find it easier bringing the SWA into a wiska box external of shed wall, and drilling through the back of box into shed and either conduit upto or low level DB 👍

You have not connected the cpc in the swa but glanded the swa in to a metal db which will be earthed from the earthing in house db ? Just letting you know as you’ve still got the garage db earthed from the house. Pull the swa out and gland in to a plastic enclosure below unless those garage dbs are plastic of course 👍

It could be the house end which wasn't shown, is either a plastic housing on the fuse board or the cable terminated in a plastic box but yes separate earthing for both.

I have a fuse board at front of house, at back of house i have 3 outbuildings plus a garage, the garage has a bc board already and the other sheds have lights and power outlets, i now have another shed right up back of garden, which i would like power to also, light switches and power outlets for tv, electric stove etc,,, is there anyway i can get enough power to the new shed, without connecting to the fuse board at front of the house, because we are talking thick walls floor access minimal and its like 500 meters plus away, the garage and out buildings are around 200 meters away from new shed. Cheers

@@d4ngerous4 I would definitely recommend getting a electrician out to have a look at your installation that you have now and see if it can be adapted to suit your needs 👍

@@GreenHawkConstructionltd ofcourse , i just wondered if it was possible to run off another box attached to the same cables as existing, i get its hard to answer cause depends on existing cable etc, just looking for a general idea, if its not unheard of. Cheers anyway👍

Isnt the garage board still connected to the PME via the armouring of the SWA?
@GreenHawkConstructionltd

No it is separated at the other end via a plastic enclosure

Why did you need to make the shed a TT System?? The house supply is TNCS OR TNS so why not just connect armoured cable to earth of house System??

Grip-it fixings are ok but you'd have been easier and had smaller holes with ordinary hollow wall anchors. The ones that open up behind the drywall when you tighten the screw(or use the setting tool).

A piece of plywood spanning across the corner and window battens would have also provided a solid base for fixing and room for an additional socket mounting.

watched a few 'power to shed' videos now and they all seem overbuilt. 6mm cable and a consumer unit for 2 lights? looking at my own project, a 20m cable run, absolute max power drawer will be 1kW... so the calculators say i should be ok with 1mm cable so im going with 2.5 anyway for saftey margin. am i missing something or the pros just want to cover themselves in case someone decides to run an electric oven in the shed they wired?

What would you do if you couldn't connect to the main board? could you spur from an outside socket?

I’m interested to know why you have used an earth rod and not the earth that is with the SWA cable.
@Arachnoid_of_the_underverse

I believe regulations require a separate means of earthing which should not be connected to the house earthing due to a possible potential difference and earth leakage(TNS system).

Function over form, is the saying you are looking for, the opposite to an artist who looks for form over function.
