While I agree with most of the people commenting about the naked wire, but i loved the video. This was great video other than the wire. I have a similar wall but in my case, i would like the TV on top. I would have also loved if you would have talked about the heating, as far as how much opening it needs and/or on top as most people would want to hang TVs on top. Thank you though for the video

You couldn't tighten the cord so it's not slacking across the entire fireplace? There's enough room behind the glass to hide the cord completely.

Sorry to be negative here, but it's one thing to hang the fireplace surface mount. But, if you're going to go to the trouble of cutting studs etc, my gosh hard wire the friggin thing. This install is very sloppy.

Flush mount fireplaces typically have enough trim to hide the additional framing needed when cutting through studs. You should have fully framed this out. Also, the idea you need an electrician to tap a 120v outlet is hilarious.

Wow. Should have located it somewhere else. Took that diagonal 2x4 off the back of the stairway. NOTE: that's what held the stairway drywall in position. Good luck with the cracking that will happen now. The vertical ones also held drywall along the stairway up, and the stairway beneath. Somebody's gonna have a nice repair project to re-do every year as the cracks continue re-appearing!!! Gotta love it! This choice is in the category of DDIY - - Don't Do It Yourself.

Hey, the install showed how easy it can be but for self-described pros that non-finishing touch on the electrical cord is half-ass. You even could have run the cord inside the wall and just brought it through the wall at the outlet right there! As a marketing professional, I am respectively telling you're not helping yourselves with this.

Embers Fireplaces & Outdoor Living could have at the VERY least done what the poster stated. Ran the cord BEHIND the Sheetrock and then popped it out AT the outlet and THEN plugged it in. I am not some DIY, or electrical installer and would have done this for esthetic reasons. It looks sloppy. This should have be an easy decision FREE of charge.

If I were you I wouldn't even feel comfortable letting a customer install it the way you guys demonstrated...it completely ruins the finished product! When people go to their house and look at that and see how sloppy it is they aren't going to be impressed. Nor will they think dropping $1K+ on an electric fireplace seem like a good idea when they think it'll just end up looking like that.
