This was perfect and simple! I purchased a microwave in November 2023, so my product is under warranty. I had a tech come out to find out that the bulb was not covered. After watching your video, I was able to install it.

Thank you for making this video. There's not that much information online about how to change the internal light bulb. When I was a copywriter I wrote scripts for lots of educational and instructional videos so I appreciate what a good job you did on this one. I especially appreciate that you paid attention to the order of the steps in the process. It sounds like a simple thing, but too many how-to videos start the process, get a few steps in, and then say, "Oh, by the way, you have to do this first." I hate that! For example, the part about wearing a glove to handle the bulbs is critical and you put that step right up front before starting the process. Thanks!

Great video! Now I know that there is a light bulb for the interior of the microwave.. We just moved into a 13 year old house and couldn’t believe there wasn’t a light for the inside of the microwave. THANK YOU!!!

Thank you for this video! It's not my model but I was able to find where the inside light bulb is from your video. Almost ashamed to say that I've lived in my apartment for almost 6 years not even noticing the inside of my microwave did not have a light. I just ordered the bulb and I'm looking forward to having the visual warning of a possible explosion of melting better. 😂

Thank you. I was having trouble removing the grill. After removing the 2 screws, the grill wouldn't come out as the manual said it would. You're tip about sliding it to the left did the trick. Unfortunately the manual doesn't mention this.

Thank you very much. This helped a ton! This also works for model DVM7195SF1** (SS or WW). For reference on mine (all were burnt out): The two lower bulbs were 20 watts. The interior one was 50 watts.

My 2005 GE Spacemaker MW specifies a 20W halogen bulb, so check the Owners Manual. It is usually around page 35-37. It is also important to remove all fingerprints and oils off the bulb with an alcohol wipe before turning it on. Some bulbs come in a plastic wrap to use as a sock as you install it. Between the two (wrong wattage and oils) they can cause premature burn-out.

Same problem here. Bought two replacements. Couldn't get them in. Wife tried too. No luck. One prong broke off in process. We know about the skin oil problem. We're going w/o light for now. It's way harder than the video makes it look. I've seen forums all over the net about this issue.

I can't get the light bulb to go into the 2 holes. I even tried the bad bulb and cannot get it to go in. Is there some trick to this?
@travelingtrex48974 жыл бұрын
Lauren, thank you for the question. Is yours the G8 bulb, like the one in video with 2 straight pin? If so, they can be a little hard to put in. I once broke the pin while putting it in. I suggest wearing glove and slightly wiggling it side to side to get it in. See my video at 2 mins 59 seconds.
@laurencarl8394 жыл бұрын
@@travelingtrex4897 Yes it's a G8. And thank you for your reply. I tried to do it again yesterday by pressing harder and I broke a prong on each of the 2 bulbs I had. I ordered a few more and they're coming tomorrow but I fear I'll just break those again. I've changed these bulbs before on other microwaves but this one is just not going in. And yes I am wear surgical gloves so I don't touch them. My model is JVM7195SK1SS and the bulb that came with the microwave is a bit longer but the prongs match up. I'll re-check your video again at your suggested point. This is so frustrating. It shouldn't be this difficult to change a light bulb!
@laurencarl8394 жыл бұрын
Is a G8 connection universal? The bulbs I had that broke were a G8 connection and the one I need are the same G8 connection (P/N WB08X10051)

I am sorry that you pin broke. I remember it was very frustrating. Look at my video at 2m 59s to see if that helps. Know that they video was sped up at the time. Go slow, wiggle side to side. Is yours microwave the same model? is it the top or bottom light you are replacing?

Can i use LED bulb? If so is there a.specific one that.can withstand the stove heat?
@travelingtrex48973 жыл бұрын
It’s precisely the heat reason that I decided not to get the LED ones. I would use a lower wattage bulbs than the led ones.
@wlmccrea4 жыл бұрын
Does the lower light bulb have to be of the "dimmable" type?
@travelingtrex48974 жыл бұрын
I use the halogen light bulbs, and they are dimmable by nature. Are you thinking of using LED light bulbs? I didn’t use the LED because I am not sure how well they will stand against the heat as they sit right above the stove. After all, my microwave handle melt a bit around the same location. LED are also more expensive. Hope that answer your question.
@wlmccrea4 жыл бұрын
@@travelingtrex4897 Thanx. Was not aware halogens are dimmable by nature. No, will not be using LEDs.
@travelingtrex48974 жыл бұрын
@@wlmccrea yes. I did not know it either. I believe the term "dimmable bulbs" wasn't widely used until LEDs became popular, as all incandescent and halogens are dimmable by consuming less voltage. LEDs on the other hand requires different circuitry to do the same.

Why did you skip your efforts to install the bulbs? I tried replacing these bulbs and they will not go back in. I thought I had the wrong size because the first one snapped sideways and broke. No matter how careful I am they will not go back into the sockets. This video did not help. When you were installing the bulbs you fast-forwarded how you got it to go in all three times.
@travelingtrex4897 Жыл бұрын
David, I recalled mine bended once. It is frustrating. I needed to “rock” the 2 pins side to side slowly into the base. Check out at 3min and 1 second of the video how I hold the bulb, my index and middle fingers holding the bulb base, and rock the pins slightly with my thumb.
