@SKLIFEstyle Жыл бұрын
I used a thin rubber glove or at least wrap your finger in like masking tape (Make sure to unplug the microwave first) and stick your finger in and turn. Fyi - You may actually turn clockwise since you could be facing the opposite direction the bulb is facing. You can do it bare handed but its thin metal, may not be cleanly rounded, the cap or the socket, so it could slice you if you aren't protected. Happy Friday! I'm not an expert on electronics but sounds like the ballast (houseing the lamp connects with) is busted and sending too much juice. Assuming the bulbs are exact like for like, that's probably what finally blew it out..and what is causing them to continue to go now.**SK**
@carcasscruncher93542 жыл бұрын
@@SKLIFEstyle idk, I did a little more research. Apparently when the glass of the bulb separates from the base some filaments can get crossed and short something else out in the circuit board called a triav or triad. These things have a diode in them. Perhaps the diode is stuck open letting way to much current thru. Idk though, I'm not that savvy with all that circuit board stuff.

@arubaguy2733 Жыл бұрын
@@carcasscruncher9354 The light malfunction is unrelated to the cooking function of the unit. Go ahead and keep using it without the light, it's safe. Replacing the blown triac is not difficult if you can use simple hand tools and can solder. The triac only costs $0.99 and replacement takes 1/2 an hour start to finish. The design is much more complex and less robust than necessary. More complexity = more opportunity for failure. Perhaps intentional.

You can use some wd40 if needed, very small amount, couple drops on two sides. Be sure the unit is unplugged! Use a rubber glover if you can or thin towl for grip and protection and after letting the drops sit for 5 min try twisting it out. After that I would try some needle one pliers perhaps, grip one side and try to twist it out.
@SKLIFEstyle10 ай бұрын
Also be sure to use paper towels to dry off the wd40, very well and perhaps use a fan to dry it off for 10 minutes before attempting to place a bulb in and turning the light on.

UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE BEFORE YOU TAKE ANYTHING APART. This is just common sense. The "OFF" setting of the light DOES NOT remove all power. He's using metal scissors unsafely! You could get shocked or cause a short circuit that WILL damage the light electronics. If a short happens you may have to take the control panel out and replace a component called a "triac" to get the light to work correctly again. (or pay for a $150 service call) BE SAFE!
