YeaHHHHHH finally an american in this Country where it is done wrong forever that gets it. Floating the horizontal batten on 1/2" PVC pipe that has been cut in half is a good choice so it keeps the horizontals above the roof for water flow to bottom

The battens under my roof tiles came with little rubber grommets where the nail is placed.

The way you fit battens is totally wrong if any water gets on to the roofing paper felt it cannot get away because you have trapped it between the batten and ply boards. You need a spacer between the batten and paper felt.

Agree, we usually use battens with pre fitted spacers. However allot of the roofs around here do not have spacers. Which I do not agree with.

@@RoofRepairSpecialist you can counter batten. place a baten ontop of the rafter, either under or on top of the breather membrane to provide adequate ventilation. in the case of a close boarded roof i would suggest underneath the membrane

Wrong again. You nailed the battens over the stack flashing. Battens go underneath the pipe flashing and the pipe flashing goes over the second course of tile.

Your wrong again, but I’ll let you have this one if it helps. The second flashing gets installed on top of the bottom tile. Let me know if you need me to send the installation instructions.

Don’t think we have that here, regardless the installation method is the point of the video, not the type of batten. If we’re talking about the top of batten I prefer a raised batten system, Boral makes a great one
