Looks like a great upgrade. Any advice as to the best type of drill bit to use to make drilling those holes as easy as possible?
@DIYOnTheHouse Жыл бұрын
Just use a small drill size for the pilot hole then move up to the correct size and use spray oil. It's a awesome upgrade. Wish we would have done it sooner.

Great video. Bummer mine has an enclosed frame. So I can't get a nut screwed on the other end. Seems this won't allow front stabilizer jacks
@DIYOnTheHouse7 ай бұрын
Thanks and that is a bummer. Can you weld it?

Also, I have one more question. The jack you posted the link for, has several holes for bolts. I wonder, how many of them can be or must be used?
@DIYOnTheHouse Жыл бұрын
If you can get 4 of them in it would be great. It will depend on the trailer frame type.

Can this be used to level the RV? Or would we still need leveling blocks?
@DIYOnTheHouse Жыл бұрын
You still need blocks side to side. I use ours for fine tuning.

Good video! What is your opinion of a third set of Jacks right in middle of camper in front of front axle?
@DIYOnTheHouse2 жыл бұрын
Before you do that. Try a set of stabilizers that go between the tires. A friend of mine got a pair and they work amazing. I got a set and going to do a video on it next week when we go camping in Phoenix.
@solden492 жыл бұрын
@@DIYOnTheHouse I will! I have 4 sets of stabilizer bars already. Pretty dang sturdy as it is. Just obsessing with stability lol. I look forward to watching your next video.

Where should I get the bolts. I have bought the Jack, but I have a hard time finding the hardware to install it.
@DIYOnTheHouse Жыл бұрын
Get grade 8 bolts and locking nuts and washers at a local hardware or box store.

When the jacks are all the way up, how far off the mounting beam do they extend? A concern is ripping them off if doing a little none-4- wheel drive off-road.
@DIYOnTheHouse2 жыл бұрын
They are up tight to the frame. I would be more concerned about the step for the door or the sewer drain getting scraped off before these.

I'm going to tap my holes for 3/8-16 screws with like lock washers. Quick question, are the jacks supposed to be located in a certain spot?
@aaronherrera30442 жыл бұрын
Nevermind, I found a cross member that would be a good location for it, liked the video

I have square rounded tube frame. How would I attach a nut and bolt to the frame?
@DIYOnTheHouse2 жыл бұрын
You may have to have mounting plate welded or weld the jack to the frame, or use square sides u bolt and clamp to the frame.

My Frame is Square Tubed style, still ok to drill right up into those and install the Jacks?
@DIYOnTheHouse3 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't be a problem
@stephaniemoon5114 ай бұрын
I have the tube style frame as well, but I am replacing a jack, so I have to get the bolts down into the tube. How did you do that?
@Tgilbert032 жыл бұрын
My trailer doesn't have a lip like that coming off the frame, what are my options?
@DIYOnTheHouse2 жыл бұрын
You may need to weld them on. Or if you can locate a jack that has a larger flange area that it can be installed with a square u bolt clamp.
@are87453 жыл бұрын
Do you use nylock nuts, double nut or anything? Or just regular
@DIYOnTheHouse3 жыл бұрын
Good question, I used nylon.
@are87453 жыл бұрын
Awesome thanks, I have a 35' gulf stream ultra lite and it currently has stabilizers but some of the places we go arent exactly manicured spots so terrain is an issue. I have heard adding scissor jacks could hurt the frame, is that true? Was going to put 3 on each side to distribute the weight more evenly.
@suepeterson56754 жыл бұрын
Do you leave the jack on permanent ? 🤔👍
@DIYOnTheHouse4 жыл бұрын
Yes! They bolt directly to the frame and are ready when you set up the RV.

If like me you live in a rust belt area. With a lot of ice and snow to go along. One word of advise, DO NOT install these! You'll be unpleasantly surprised when the typical lack of maintenance kicks in and they get all crummy and rusty. The ones you just "trow away", keep them nearby. They will come handy. Curiously this past week I went the opposite direction, due to the above. I got some aluminium ones, Just like yours. The old caravan came with the plastic version. But the thread/nut is stuck, with rust! That gives an idea of the issue. With this said, whatever the case, keep them clean and lubricated. If the previous owner had done that. The problem, wouldn't be a problem! ;-) Cheers
@DIYOnTheHouse Жыл бұрын
If you keep them well lubed and clean like you said, they will be fine.

Watching you drill those holes with no safety goggles on is cringey bud! Get a piece of that hot metal shaving stuck in your eye and I promise you you will have big regrets. Good video otherwise
