Hi, I've done the 2 track cuts as you say but the cut on the jp2 still rings out on the multimeter even though the track is definitely cut. if you had any ideas with this it would be much appreciated. Board model is VA3 pal.

Does the mod look/sound better with the Model 1 or are they both about the same? I don't care about the card games or 3d glasses. New Sega Master owner never had one growing up, but loving the games :)

Yes, but a Japanese model is already running at 60hz. Yes Im taking to many other makers of kits to see if they are a good fit for my store. What type of kit are you after?

A Japanese, or American for that matter, will be natively running at 60Hz NTSC. This switchless kit will only control Hz, not colour encoding. E.g. PAL 60 on a PAL console / NTSC 50 on an NTSC console. Also keep in mind that the JP2 jumpers will be reversed on NTSC consoles. E.g. PAL console will have pads 2 and 3 connected (+5V to pin 57) while NTSC consoles will have pads 1 and 2 connected (pin 57 grounded). Regarding PAL/NTSC output, this can be achieved easily via a quick mod. Cut the ground trace of pin 7 of the SONY CXA1145 video chip and connect to the middle pin of a SPDT toggle switch. Connect one of the outer switch pins to ground and the other +5V. Now you can toggle between PAL/NTSC colour encoding.

Actually, there is no point of putting the switch at all. Setting it to 60Hz ENG is enough, there were no PAL games for SMS, all of them are region free NTSC. I've found out sth interesting after setting my SMS to 60Hz, unlike on Mega Drive, composite output still does work and it outputs PAL60.

Any reason why you showed "walking the component" by constantly reheating the pads? Wouldn't it be better to use a desoldering pump? Two sucks with a soldapullt and you would have been done.

エステティック Funk I try to keep it simple and show how people can get the same result with basic tools. I’ve got an electric desoldering station but opted not to use it this time. Hope that makes sense
