That’s weird Blockhead. You generally didn’t mod the Iron for looks only but performance and practicality. Those shocks are gonna wreck your lean angle and make your ride even rougher than stock. I would think you would have gotten some sweet Ohlins.
@rebel_ltz6 жыл бұрын
arkindomino He modded the Iron the exact same way. :)

Joshua Hellis yes better then stock, he didn't pull off "stock" shocks though. He pulled off the premium performance tuned suspension .

Slammed bikes work well in FLA, but not so great where a fella has to turn occasionally :) I am looking at going about +2" higher for more leaaaaan angle with Ohlin's, grinding expensive parts gets to be un-fun pretty quick. Raised bikes can look a bit goofy, but since Life is found in the lean, it's worth it :) Curious how the shorter stroke on the shocks impacts ride quality? Seems it'd be pretty jarring on any but marble smooth roads? Mrs. Mako's FXDB has 1" lowered Progressive shocks and the bike wants me dead at every pot hole and rail road tracks. Her bike, her rules though, so it's all good.

Pro tip - before adding new locktite you should always clean off old locktite from bolt, nut, threaded channels - otherwise the bond isn’t as good. Also, interested to see what this does to your ground clearance and cornering. Looks good though.

How do these feel I would think the stock ones would preform much better, I have the same ride so would be interested on some feedback on the new shocks.

Hey Blockhead love the look the Burlys add to your Lowrider S. Question is how big of a difference did it make to your bike’s handling? I have a Lowrider S too and I think these look good but I am still on the fence because I’m not sure how big of a difference it will make to cornering clearance and overall handling.
@CB-lh8gw6 жыл бұрын
Went with Progressives on my sportster. But I added height, I'm 200lbs and I'd occasionally bottom out when hitting bumps. Fender rubbing the wheel ya know? Tore the hell out of my wiring and I didn't know until I changed them out. Those burlys don't look too bad but I had them in chrome and hated it. (Came with the bike). The black chrome progressive shocks are beautiful though.
@mopar216 жыл бұрын
Could see maybe ditching shocks for OEM height cartridge shocks or something along those lines. Pretty hard to be the original lowrider s suspension. Guessing that this was more of a financial /promotional move than a upgrade with any sort of gain...

It is not necessary to loosen the chain when you install the shorter springs?

Mr Block, I was wondering how much difference you've noticed changing shocks? I know you wanted the lowered look but I was wondering about the ride. Also I found a new low rider s here in kc mo. Should I do it?

Hey Blockhead! Hope you had a fantastic holiday! I am getting my first bike in July and leaning towards getting the Iron 883, I really loved the way it felt but I've heard I would possibly grow out of it very quickly in terms of power. If I am looking for something I could ride for the next 5-10 years, would you suggest getting a fat bob or something along those lines and growing into it?
@JohnnyJJP9116 жыл бұрын
Been Frank Since '93 i’m getting a fat bob as my first bike in a week, do you have instagram?

Johnny Palumbo ride both if you have the opportunity. Compare lowrider s to fatbob 114. Paid 16k for my new 2017 FXDLS.

My Iron came with 13” shocks and I replaced them with 11” progressive shocks. It looks so much better and I feel much more in control now. Lower center of gravity I guess. I love you did the same with the FXDLS.
