These settings are INCORRECT. When the battery is unplugged, and the device loses power for extended time, the date/time will reset, along with rotation settings. You must leave the battery in while operating as a dash cam in order to preserve the date/time because the file names are saved as the time stamp. if you don't it will continually overwrite your current videos with the default time/date stamp. In dash cam mode, the device will automatically turn off after a few seconds when disconnected from USB power. Confirmed with SJ4000 Wifi.

Is it mandatory to connect the wire always to car power source? Can’t we record video using inbuilt batter? I was looking for something where i can avoid connecting wires. Can you help understand on this?

Yes you can do recording without connecting the usb but it will not function as dash cam. It will not automatically switch on and off with the cars ignition. It will work so long the battery power is there. Also automatic charge will not take place you have to charge the camera once your battery is low.

Thanks for your query. When not in use it's better to remove from the car specially if you park your car directly under the sun .My cam is nearly 4 years old and the battery has given up.

I won't say screwed up the battery is 3 yrs old. This dishcam is for temporary use as the battery gets heated up due to heat and constant on and off operation. For dedicated dashcam use capacitor based dashcam.
