@GarageBuiltHondas

I'd suggest rolling them for sure. The stretched tires will probably slide in with a good roll. I don't like pulling fenders because it can look ugly. You may want to use a camber kit if you don't already have one.

@goodboi1232
@goodboi1232 6 жыл бұрын
actually we never thought of using a magnet thanks for the idea. Btw the front passenger side has knocking whenever I hit a bump (even the small ones) do u have any idea what might be the cost? but I think its because of the nut we lost cause the nut that we replaced it with doesn't really go in well (there still a tiny gap) and I think whenever the I hit a bump it goes up and down causing the knocking?
@GarageBuiltHondas

Eissa Nasr Same skunk2 or a different brand? A different brand might be a lower stance and therefore not be as tall as the skunk2 springs. It will then be loose when you have the car lifted but will compress as you lower it to the ground.

@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 8 жыл бұрын
As long as your shocks aren't blown you don't need to replace them. These springs are a pretty mild drop so they will not damage the shocks as prematurely as being slammed. I personally like Coilovers better, I like being able to set my ride height where I'm happy. With springs you don't have a choice.

Great video that looks pretty simple however I've heard if you don't change the shocks out too they can blow out prematurely from being held at this new lowered position. Has he had this problem now that it's been in the car for a while?

haven't watched the procedure here and I'm not car savvy at all but the procedure for uninstalling these springs would be the same as installing them and replacing them with the OEM springs? so you wouldn't ever be able to tell the springs has been modded? thanks for the help
@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 9 жыл бұрын
Yes, you would need the spring compressor to put the oem springs back onto the strut though. It is impossible without that tool for the fronts. The rear will not need the compressor.

@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 8 жыл бұрын
I just checked a VW forum and it seems $300-$450 is fair. A couple people said it can be a little tricky but not too difficult. It seems the average time should be about 3-4 hours for your Passat.

I've got a 2013 Civic Si Sedan myself same as yours but mines black and I just paid it off 2 months ago so I'm wanting to do the same to mine. It's stock except for a Skunk 2 Mega Power exhaust and K&N Typhoon Series Intake, but I'm just scared of tearing something up if I do this especially now that it's paid for. Like hit a pothole or an incline and tear my front end off. Any advice given would be greatly appreciated. Like will it kill my stock struts if I do this instead of coil overs? I've got 2 kids I can't afford coil overs at the moment or new struts lol.

@GarageBuiltHondas 9 жыл бұрын
I did not change the shocks. The skunk2 springs only moderately lower the car and the chances of blowing the shocks is less severe. If the shocks had a lot of miles on them then we may have changed them but they had less than 30,000 miles on them.

The car has not been aligned after I lowered it. With the new negative camber induced you will probably need a camber kit to get it aligned if there is too much negative camber. I've seen some shops align lowered cars without camber kits, and some places do not. I'm not sure what that depends on though per each different shop.

Great video. How's the ride after? Does it handle curves better? Do i need a camber kit as well? Ive gkt a 2013 civic si and it rolls in the beginning of cornering. Thanks!
@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 7 жыл бұрын
+White Devil it handles a lot nicer, more sporty and the center of gravity is lower which makes the turns more crisp. A camber kit and alignment are suggested, and will save from premature tire wear.

Wasup man. I have an civic 07 coupe and I’m lookin to get a lowering kit myself. My only issue is I was curious to know if u personally think those shocks were worth it. And do they ride smooth and how long till they should be replaced. Sorry bout all the questions this is my first car so I’m just tryin to treat her right😅

So I'm doing this on my 2015 si coupe and I couldn't unbolt the end link suspension bolt you got out. At first the nut started screwing off but then the whole bolt started to spin freely with the nut. Because of that I can't tighten it either. I finished the job by unbolting the nut below it but since I couldn't tighten the top one, my suspension makes noise. Any suggestions?
@GarageBuiltHondas

Use a jack to either raise/lower the rear control arm. This happened to me on the driver side but I was able to lower the rear lower control arm and keep resistance on the end link and it allowed me to re tighten it.
@GarageBuiltHondas

I lowered a 2008 Civic Si today and the end link has a slot for an Allen wrench. It'll allow you to re tighten the end links. I'll post the video tonight. I showed how I loosened it.

No camber kit was used. The owner drove the car for about 10 months on these wheels and tires and the tires wore fine. They were the original tires that came with the car and had a little over 40,000 miles at the time of replacement back in December. He bought new wheels and tires and did have the car aligned at that time. It is always recommended to get the car after lowering them though, and if your budget can afford I would get a camber kit also.

@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 7 жыл бұрын
Charles Michael You'll be fine with hand tools, just a little more tired. 😊. I would recommend getting an alignment. The camber won't eat your tires up as much as having a toe setting that is off.

That size should fit if your offset isn't too low and your tires aren't too thick. I would really do some searching on Google to see what other people are using close to that size.
