Literally- I was putting on my fiancés winter tires when I found a cross threaded bolt… the lug got stripped in the hub, so the nut and stud were basically fused together. I had tried everything, and to make it worse they were set deep in the alloy wheels. Ended up breaking so many bits trying to drill it out, I had to go to harbor freight and buy a whole set of their ‘expensive’ metal bits that were impact driver compatible. The other 3 wheels took 15 mins. This one took ~2 days in 10 degree weather.

I was swapping my winter wheels to summer wheels, and I got to the last wheel and found one lugnut that would just not release. I ended up putting the jack handle on the breaker bar to get it loose, but I was so terrified it would shear the lug and send me down a 3 day rabbit hole.

And I am asking, Nay, begging for you to complete this build and give this car all the glory she deserves! The Honda civic kickstarted my love for hatchbacks! Give her all the late 90’s early mid 2000’s love, adoration, and styling she deserves! But most of all, make it kick the ass of the modern atrocity that is the new civic! Love you guys! If you don't bed your brakes you wind up with uneven wear and vibrations and the myth of a "warped" rotor. Rotors will never warp under use. They only warp if they are heavily impacted in a wreck. However, what everyone refers to as "warped" rotors is the vibration you feel in the pedal. If you don't bed the brakes you'll feel that vibration. That's the before and after.

Drum brakes are perfectly adequate for street driving. They work well and last a long time. And they aren't hard to change if you take your time. The problem is, they get hot when used a lot. So if you're doing a lot of hard braking, upgrading to discs is a good idea. But if you never go on a track, or don't commonly drive a lot of curvy mountain roads. Factory drum brakes are just fine. If you're drag racing. Drums are lighter and they will stop you just fine. Even 4 wheel drums are good for drag cars. 4 wheel drums are also okay for street cars. But upgrading the front to discs definitely has it's benefits in certain driving conditions

You know engine, suspension, brakes, supercharge, turbo, headers, inner coolers, throttle body, cold air intake, lower it, and ect. It'd be different than the car work. It'd just be fun to see I think.

Top tip: find a close backroad to bed the brakes, that way you can avoid traffic, and stop lights. It's ideal to keep moving, if you have to stop, slow way down and creep until that light turns green, then after bedding try to drive for like 5 minutes without using the brakes, to allow them to cool down. I live in the country so this is easy for me, but, if not, try to plan an ideal route if you can

This is what I love about 90s Hondas, everything is interchangeable. You should drop a b18 in it and start adding power to that. Those hatches have so much potential.

Drum brakes do actually work very well. Just not ideal for racing because of the lack of heat dissipation. You can find many dump trucks with drums all the way around because with drums you get a much larger contact area with the shoes that are almost always bigger than disk brake pads.
