Question regarding Baldwin hinges. The pin is already in the barrel and the top is just a small screw on. So the pin doesn't come out and I can't use the pin hinge tool which is what I prefer. Any idea of how to work with these ?

I have seen those hinge attached stoppers push a hole through a door. It was probably slammed open and the door was probably very cheaply made, but it is something to be aware of. Definitely use the baseboard mounted type if possible.

We have rubbery protectors that you can pull over the door handle. Works pretty well.

How do you prevent the hinge stop from making a dimple in the side trim?

Good question…unfortunately I don’t really have an answer for you…I would rather a dimple in my trim rather then a door knob hole in the drywall…maybe use 2 hinge stops per door that both stop the door at the same time…that might help with 2 points of contact rather than just 1…thanks for watching and have a blessed day 😎

So, what if I wanted to shorten the spring stop so it doesn’t stick out so far into room? My base is quite thick and so I don’t need the stop to be so long. How would one cut the steel spring easily without ruining a pair of side cutters?

Our front door has a spring door stop on the bottom just like this first one you showed, but we are still getting a hole in the wall from the door handle. If the wind catches the door or a child opens it and doesn't hold onto it, it hits the spring door stop and the spring flexes enough that the door handle still hits the wall. Any suggestions?

Look on Amazon for a solid metal door stop that is longer than 3 1/4” in length… still go through the same steps to secure it to the baseboard…sounds like you just need a longer one…or there are floor mounted door stops you can look at, they are secured to the floor so you need to be sure of the location before putting a hole into your hardwood/ tile… Hope this helps and have a blessed day 😎
