This is the best and simpliest video I could find. Thank you very much. I can not believe some folks take the lower control arm off to do this. Which would be fine if you live in an alignment shop parking lot. Your video is by far the best.

I found removing it to be necessary with my 4x4. I did get it aligned immediately afterwards, and the “thunk” it made leaving the driveway as the camber bolts settled was disconcerting.

It’s only for 4x4 since the axle is attached to the hub

I like the fact you say "now a trip to the allignmshop" this step is hardly ever mentioned.

Thanks for posting this. I'm installing a 2" level on my 2WD F150 in June. Will also be getting new tires that are about 33.4" on stock 20" Sport wheels. It's crazy how 2" can completely change the look of the truck.

Very nice video. You made it look so easy.

Started following this vid. If you have a 4x4 I recommend just dropping the lower control arm. Following this vid taking the strut out was insanely difficult.

Great job! I’ll be installing my kit tomorrow before the Super Bowl.

Instead of changing the angle on the bolts and risking damaging the bushing on the bottom of the strut it's better to use the driver side strut on the passanger side and the passenger on the driver side!

I wish you'd shown a 4x4 install. I had no problem right up to the point where you pull the strut. With the front axle shaft I couldn't get the lower control arm to rotate low enough to remove the strut. I fought with it for about 30-45 minutes before I realized even if I got it out there was no way I was getting it back in with the spacer on. I had to reassemble the whole thing back in stock configuration. I remember my '09 was a battle when I did that but not like this (the '09 was more an issue of extending the brake lines to the point I was worried they'd break to get the control arm low enough... my '21 has the brake line length, just not the rotation in the lower control arm with the axle shaft fighting me). Any pointers for removing the strut on a 4wd?

Did you disconnect the 4WD half shaft? That should really be the only difference between this and a 4WD truck.
@joshrandall72082 жыл бұрын
@@Six_Eleven_Concepts No, I was hoping to stay away from the hub since Ford did away with the vacuum system. Mine has the torque on demand all wheel drive selector and it's my understanding that it uses an electromagnet. I guess I'll be getting more familiar with it. Thanks for the reply.

@@joshrandall7208 lots of people have had great success removing the bolts on the lower control arm where it connects to the frame. Stage 3 Motorsports has a video install for a spacer which shows this process. Looks much more simple as you’ll need to get an alignment afterwards anyways. I’ll be doing that method this Saturday on mine for my front Bilstein install.

how much more complicated is it for a 4x4?
@Realtruck2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ray, it's very similar, but be mindful not to overextend the axle when you pull out and reinstall the strut assembly. Hope that helps!

Great video! What size are those tires? Any rub or trim needed?
@Realtruck2 жыл бұрын
Hey Luis, these are 285/75R17 Toyo M/T tires and we only had to trim a little off the corner of the front plastic lip. Hope that helps!
