I took my pkg. of shims and sandwiched them all neatly in the vice at the same time, leaving about half of the circumference of the stack above the jaws, and then made a little half-circle cutout with my dremel tool on the inside surface of the shims and voila, a package of neatly-fitting shims! Great video; love your stuff. An unrelated question: What is MGM's take or experience with the relationship of case taper to backthrust? I'm an Ackley believer, but have lately "met" with many online who poo-poo the notion as either inaccurate or irrelevant. Your thoughts?

We strongly believe in the -06 case designs that are AI there is a lot of taper in a standard 06 case causing a lot of back thrust.

I have a contender switched from inline 50cal to a 270 barrel and it dents primers but will not fire the bullet if only does it ever other 5 shots?? Any help??

Help Please! I have a Contender with the super 14 barrel in 223 and today when I shot it the ported compensator came off. How do I reattach it or does it require a gunsmith to do it?

i been reloading 7mm remington mag. using full length resizing dies. my barrel wound lock up on some of the resized brass and the barrel won't lock up on some of them and lock up on most of them. i really have to slam the barrel down hard so the barrel can lock down. even then the hammer won't cock back. i been researching to check what the problem might be. i been thinking where i might have a head space problem but. i ran them thru the same sizing dies it should work right. can you give any hints what might be the problem. my barrel is a 26 weather shield barrel.

I followed the instructions from this video and the head space was off. I purchased headed space guage and it close on both go and no guage. I purchased the Bellm kit and got it to where it close on go guage and not close on the no go guage. I no longer have a problem with case head separation and my action actually lockup just fine. Got a question I thinking about this for some times. How about the other barrels I got. Never had any problems from them. Does that means I got head space problems with them now. Since I shorten the gap between the barrel and the action.

how do you do this on a contender g2? didnt show how to do on a g2 even though the title says G2.

We have 2 TC Encores love them but when we bought 35 Whelen barrels they both misfire with these barrels. What is our best options. All other barrels work properly.

I have a rc factory barrel in 460 and I have a problem with cases separating about a 1/4 inch up from the base. Is this a head space issue?

Hi Can you advise if the encore bushing will fit in my contender pistol, i know it only has one hole in it .i want to know if it the same diameter bushing and the threaded hole with match the contender frame, thanks in advance.

No, the contender has its own shim kit available.

If you correct the headspace on one of your barrels, will you have to go back and forth on the other barrels as well? Does the headspace change between barrels?

Yes headspace will be different on all barrel. More often then not.

Hey Jamie, I would suggest getting an Encore if you want more caartridge choices, however the Contender is lighter and a better option for carrying around the woods. Thanks for watching!
