How to Install the Genuine Electrum Bitcoin Wallet (and Avoid the "Fake" One)

I see that ledger recommends downloading Electrum.....but why ? Isn’t it essentially the same thing ? Do I need electrum wallet to send myself Bitcoin from coinbase ? Or is sending BTC to ledger nano device sufficient for cold storage ?? Why should I take the extra step to use electrum ?

as long as a wallet has your private key it has access to your bitcoins ... other coins work same way ... by ledger device you mean a hardware wallet device ... that device will have its own private key ... as long as you did not export private key from that hardware wallet to import into electrum does not even know that you possess a hardware wallet ... so the amount in the hardware wallet can be viewed by it using its associated software only ... electrum will not have capability to read and understand the hardware wallet files so electrum cannot be used to interrogate hardware wallet

But how do you send money "from" the Electrum wallet to another persons wallet ? I get an error about "not enough funds" although I know there are. Is there a fee that I am supposed to pay - one that Coinbase would take automatically - ? I am confused being so new to it. Thank you for doing this video !

Please tell me how I can find my exact wallet address, send it, since the recipient requires me to address the wallet from which I send it in order to verify it. Where is the address tab, there are 10 addresses for sending, but which one will be used?

If you click on the "receive" tab in the electron wallet, there's a button that says, "create request". This will generate a wallet address for you. You don't need to fill in any of the other fields unless you want to. If you have enabled "show addresses". There will be an address tab. If you go to that, you will see a list of addresses, In the front of each address, it says receiving. Any of those addresses will work.

But how can someone steal my money from electrum wallet,I tried to Increase the charge fee from electrum and I was asked to put in my private key and then the bitcoin address, and behold 10 minutes later my money was found in another btc address, which I don’t know where that came from. Great Review Rex & it was helpful, especially on watching out for any fake websites. 10 out of 10. The Electrum wallet is a very important wallet and it works flawlessly in recovering any funds from a wallet that does not work properly. It can also help you recover some coins (i.e.: not every coin) if you accidentally send them to the wrong address (for example: if you accidentally send LTC coins to a BTC address) and it only works if you have your private keys (for eg: If you send funds from an exchange to the wrong address, you can not recover your funds). In saying that; everyone needs to be careful when sending coins and do not send them to the wrong address, because it is a big process to recover them (i.e.: assuming it can be done, because It all depends on the coin) :)...
