I still ran the led strip closer to the edges. It's better to have the strips closer to the edges than each other. You want to light the edges and corners the best you can. The light emitted will still light the gaps between the strips AND you won't get that ugly gap of missing light on the corners. You don't have to go on the edge of the tv but definitely go closer than the video

Awesome videos man, just started following today. I just purchased my first Govee product 75-85” immersion kit for my 70” instead of the 55-65”, my thought process was that more lights would be better. Got the kit in and I started mocking up the strips and they are definitely longer than my tv. My question is, should I return them or try to work with the kit by curving the strips around the tv?

I have 83 inch LG C1 OLED. I bought the 75-85 version and the corners are dark - the led strips are a bit short. I guess they would be a perfect fit for the 75 inch, but I'm thinking how to remount it to get rid off the "black" corners. Maybe I should stick them close to the inside of the back to create a "perfect loop"? I don't know how the glue will work after disassembly.

doesn't really solve for accurately tracking the colors. The horizontal and vertical strips are considerably shorter than the picture edges. Therefore when the camera sees a color at the screen corner, it will address the corner led but that will be several inches in from the edge, i.e. completely shifted/out-of-sync with the screen. only in the center will the led and screen colors match. To properly sync the colors, you would need to fix the strips to a curved bracket (angled away from the back surface) that points the corner leds toward the screen corners. The curve would need to be something like a shallow parabola). The bracket being angled from the tv back would also help the dimming due to the large inset of the strips from the edge. For maximum sync, you might even try light channels from each led pointed toward its ideal location along the edge. I tried to design such a bracket in CAD but the math of conical sections is beyond me AND 3D printing it for an 80 inch tv would take forever. Ended up bodging it by hand. took strips of plastic 1cm wide and each a bit longer than the govee led sections (top/bottom,left/right). Bent it into a gentle curve roughly "pointing" at the corners and center. stuck that to the tv back and stuck the led strip to it. Even ran straight strips of cardboard from between each led pointing toward points equally spaced along the screen edges. kinda works, and only an hour or so bodging! Fixing the immersion to a smaller tv is an even bigger pain as you are left with leds off the edge of the screen that govee nethertheless still maps to the screen corners. anything in the screen corners is the lost in "hidden" leds. They really need to update the app to allow you to set how many horiz and vert leds you want active Of course the best solution would be for Govee to get their ass in gear and design better software (and sell bigger strips)

Could you please possibly do a video on that?
@MrTekSuggest
@MrTekSuggest 2 жыл бұрын
Hey man! So the bars are intended to serve as the alternative for smaller screens, but alone, they don’t provide the most immersive experience as compared to the strips. I unfortunately don’t have a screen smaller than 65 inches to experiment with. But there would be some snaking on the sections to deal with the excess length. The good news is that you have a 50 inch which isn’t too far off from the recommended 55”. If you place the strips right up onto the edges and install each section as close to the next as possible you may actually be able to get away with it with minimal heavy lifting.
