Great video. I used this video to do the same exact job on my 15 Sierra 6.2liter. Helped tremendously! Only trouble I had that you didn't mention, is the wire harness secured to the back of the intake cover. It's impossible to detach it. So I just snaked the intake manifold out from underneath the cover, and then I was able to detach the harness. Other than that, perfect video for anyone with basic hand tools to perform.

Really enjoyed your video. Taught me a lot. Not sure it is my lifter yet. I have a 2014 Yukon XL 5.3L V8 SLT. I have a misfire on the 7th cylinder so I replaced all the spark plugs and wires and coil on the 7th cylinder and that made it run a little better for a while and then it had another misfire on the 7th cylinder again after driving it for a while. I don't have the tool to check the compression yet in the 7th cylinder. What are your thoughts on my problem?Is there a way to drain the antifreeze so you don't get it all over the cylinder heads?

Hey so i got a question for you could you answer please. So i did head job on the driver side of my truck, i have a 2014 silverado lt 5.3. I did exactly what you did also put new spark plugs and wires changed the oil and also replaced the injector for bank one. Ot ran good no noise for two hours i parked it and check engine light came on started shaking no over heat and all gauges are normal. Now for the injector i bought 1 for bank 1. It came with little white rings that looks like a tiny doughnut. I put them on it didnt have any on the injectors the first time i took them out and i didnt see if they came off in the head. I took the head to the machine shop and when i got it back it was clean. So i put them on. Do you think this might be the problem? Maybe it did not have them before? I saw the injectors you took out but i didnt see them?. Help please!!!!

Depending what year,if is the LS you don't have high pressure fuel pump, if you have the LT you have a head bolt in front of cylinder #1 that is different than the others and you have a high pressure fuel pump and Injectors directly into the head,the LT is the same exact like the one on the video! How do you know that the oil solenoid wasnt bad hence causing the lifter to stay collapsed?Thanks
@JM8686
@JM8686 3 жыл бұрын
Because i can control the valley pan with my bidirectional scanner before removing the head to confirm that the lifter is the issue! First i check the live data and focus on cyl 1-7-4-6 if i have the live misfire on any of those afm/dod cyl, then i go cyl by cyl activating and deactivating one by one to confirm that the lifter is collapsed! Another way is removing the valve cover and run the truck without it and you will see a rockerarm not moving at all so that will also confirm that the lifter is collapsed!

Thanks for the great video. Exactly the problem on my truck, but on Cylinder 5. I have another problem though, probably from driving with a stuck or collapsed lifter. When I am at idle, my oil pressure is 10-20 psig. When I'm driving, I am at a normal 40 psig. I noticed I have some metal shavings in the oil, so I am not driving it now. What bearing or component could I have damaged?

There is no way to tell what bearings got damaged, only opening the engine! Remove the oil pressure switch and hookup a oil pressure gage to male sure the psi you getting is accurate! You can also add a Lucas additive or replace the oil pump or shim the original oil pump so you can get a higher pressure if you do have low oil pressure

@@JM8686 Thank you! Just pulled the cylinder head. Now it's really tough to get the stuck lifter out. I saw a video about using some brake cleaner (or something similar) to free it. Any other advice? Also, I started to strip a few head bolts. Do you know the specifications for those bolts?

Lifters should come right out pretty easy, if they give you a hard time is because you might have a damaged cam shaft or even the engine block it self! Make sure the brown plastic lifter holder is not damaged cuz sometimes the lifters spins around off the lifter holder! Send pictures to my Instagram 13b_dorito

@@JM8686 Was able to get the lifter out. The roller had broken off, and I was able to use a magnet to pull out little pieces. Also, had some pieces in the oil pan and metal shavings. That explains where the shavings came from. The cam shaft looked pretty good, maybe a little tiny bit of scouring, but at least this will be enough to get the truck on the road and clear a few codes to trade it in.
