Great install video. Glad you pointed out your mistakes one can encounter when installing wall and base cabinets. One thing I hope you don’t encounter is with the fridge. From the video it looked very boxed in with little room for adequate ventilation. A fridge needs about 2” clearance from the back and 1” from the top to breathe. If not you risk overheating or burning out the compressor. Lastly keep them coils clean. Looking forward towards future episodes and best of luck to you in your new shop.

Questions: 1) Did you ever repair the damaged veneer on the back face of the cabinet over the microwave? And if so, how? 2) Why did you install the floor cabinets without waiting for the floor treatments to be completed? It will be a pain to do the floor now.
@SGDrummer72 жыл бұрын
Oftentimes you don’t want to run flooring under cabinets in case you want to change floors without tearing out the cabinets. He’ll probably just run the flooring up to the leveling feet and hide the edge with the toe kick piece.
@4Maestro12 жыл бұрын
@@SGDrummer7 Hmm, that's funny. I was thinking from the opposite direction (changing or updating cabinets without having to redo floors)... I guess it depends on which is expected to wear out or go out of style first. Then there is the issue of debris getting caught on/in the lower grade under the cabinets. But if the kickplates have an airtight seal, then maybe that wont be an issue.

Hey, really nice work you have done there, and servo drive from blum it's amazing... but I have a construction question, why do you use ledger board and not just put 4 legs? :)) (I do furniture in Europe and we always use 4 (or more) legs, you don't need any sacrificial wood to be put on the cabinet until install, because it has 4 legs :))) )
@DarthSat062 жыл бұрын
The fridge should have 50mm (2”) void above it and the bottom of the top cabinet for venting . Have a look at the fridge Specifications . Mate looks ok👍🏼 .but I would put fills each side the over head cabinet and shadow lines at the top of your over heads

What’s the longevity on those auto hinges? I always worry with something electronic like that of one going out in a few years and parts/replacements not being available. I assume there’s some sort of warranty with parts availability? I just wouldn’t want it to be one of those “this used to be cool” conversations 10 years down the line.
@Karaon2 жыл бұрын
I enojyed watching you struggle with the installation as an European furniture maker. Don't get me wrong. I've been following you on YT for years now. This mix of styles is a little funny but hey, it worked. First of all - Since you are already familiar with Blum products - they also got these handy hangers with 2 axis adjustment. You screw a metal strip to the wall - more or less level and then just hang the cabinets. This is way easier to take them off if you need to and less screws in the wall (also sometimes you have a narrow wall unit and there is no stud behind it. What now?) Second of all - I both liked and disliked the base units with a piece of lumber on wall. It's kind of the same as I mentioned above, but man, you could just use 4 adj. feet for unit OR make a platform with leveling feet which then supports all units in place. Makes it way easier to fit all units square and you've got space behind them (I leave about 5cm) to run pipes / wires if nececsary. Then again, I don't see a reason for boards in between drawers in such narrow unit - it does make the unit stronger but it's not a standalone. After fixing them all together it doesn't matter and you just used more material. Makes sense for wider units. Touch to open is a nie feature, nothing wrong there but personally I hate them below waist level. They happen to open accidently more than you would expect (based on multiple clients opinions) Well, good job man! For next time give that camera some smack and print plans so you don't mess up the cabinets! Cheers from Poland

A really strange solution with these lower cabinets flush against the wall on the beam. In Europe, we simply put the cabinets 5 cm(2") away from the wall so we don't need to cut any holes in the cabinets for pipes and water hoses :)

Get the extended warranty on the samsung appliances. Hope you won't need yours like we did. Our fridge failed in less than 3 months and Samsung (sucks) took over 5 weeks to get a tech to come over with parts to fix it. After that, it frequently froze up the back coil and stopped cooling the fridge contents. We abandoned that fridge when we moved, leaving it for the next owner to fight with... I suspect it ended up at the curb, less than 2 years old.

Why did U install floor cabinets before floors done? Alright, why U did not fix inside veneers afterward? Probably, it's ok for U, but I would definitely fire or never hire youself as an installer.
