The MC I used was not OEM. Your booster should work fine. Keep your booster, since it’s the dual diaphragm... those were specific to turbo models only. Not sure which calipers the turbo trucks had. I'm not sure about the 79-83 trucks, but the 84+ one ton pickups already had beefier brakes from the factory, including a dual diaphragm brake booster. I don't know what size the master cyl is though. Either way, to use the extra fluid that an upgraded larger master cyl will be pushing, a larger caliper (more pistons) would be ideal. Soldered connections are actually weaker and less reliable than a good crimp connection in a vibrating environment. The soldered connection gets brittle and the wire will fatigue at the sharp transition point due to vibrations being focused there eventually and break. Every OEM and NASA uses crimp connections in vibrating environments for wire to wire connections for good reason. That said you need to use a proper crimping tool (not a cheap one) preferably ratcheting and properly calibrated for the correct crimps you're using.

Unfortunately I did the timing belt right before I started documenting all of the DIY jobs on this truck. There's probably some other DIY's out there... Couple of words of advice: 1. don't forget the hidden top bolt on the timing cover, it's usually covered in oil from the head. 2. draw the shape of the timing cover on a piece of cardboard and stab every bolt thru in the drawing as you take them out. Some are different lengths and they all have to go back in the right place and this is the best way I found to keep track of which bolts go where.
