I nearly p**ped myself using this for the very first time yesterday, cutting into a live pipe is scary. Make sure the pipe is secured to the wall allowing you to use some force ie manually, use a professional drill so you don’t get stuck halfway due to lack of power, get the KIT or you’ll find you’re missing loads of adapters… Sadly mine was leaking trough the threads and had to deal with that so have some putty or tape jic. Overall massively impressed and enormously delighted with a great solution and quality product, saved me a massive headache.

@2E0PZM - that's what I was thinking for the gate valve on my HW cylinder feed that won't close off 100%. Unfortunately, when the 22mm version was delivered I discovered that the valve base where the compressed pipe gets pushed into is about 2" deep and there's no chance of getting it behind the 22mm pipe because it's fixed (as it should be) with pipe clips to a wooden board in the airing cupboard and there's only about 3/4" - 1" max. space between the pipe and the board.
@stephenhookings19854 жыл бұрын
@@andygillespie2101 common issue. The gate valve stops flow of cold water.into HW cylinder right? Mine is 28mm because it supplies two baths. Given 28mm is less common I got my boiler engineer to fit new one. We have indirect cylinder so I had to shut water off to tank in loft and let water drain down over a few days (ie people having baths and showers) once the upper tank was empty there is still water in cylinder but the gate valve is above this - so he could cut out old valve and fit now one. We looked at old one ... Decent amount of chalk on it :-(. Have to recall to operate valve periodically to reduce chance of it happening again. Some hot lemon juice cleaned out old valve. I was wondering if there was an acidic chemical (citric acid, vinegar etc) that could be added to tank, heat up and move around hot system - maybe it would free up the other full bore service valves on hot side? Sorry if what I described isn't your system - but at least it worked for me. Best of luck solving your stuck gate valve.

@nauticalmandems2 жыл бұрын
Seems a bit overkill, if you're moving several rads, draining down a system isn't much extra work. Personally I'd start isolating and pulling off rads while it's draining down anyway so it isn't any extra time or hassle compared to finding a good point to isolate the flow and return. I also wouldn't recommend putting isolation valves on the flow or return anyway as it could prevent the flow of water through your boiler depending on your system.

The F&E tank ballcock is tied up. I opened the bleed valves upstairs and have now closed them. Please could you advise me what I need to do. Do I require drain cocks on each radiator downstairs Also there appears to be a small leak on one possible on a piece of copper that is bent upwards to the lockshield end. Thanks.
@cerealkiller42484 жыл бұрын
You need to allow air into the system, which will replace the water and allow water to drain out. Have you a valve on the open vent pipe ( the one which raises up over the f&e tank and terminates above the water line in the tank ) there shouldn’t be one but I have come across them in the past, the system breathes through that pipe and it should allow the air in to enable draining. If there is a valve and you’ve closed it open it back up. It is good practice to have a method of draining at all low points. The leak could be a pin hole due the the thinning of the copper which happened during the bending process, but it could be leaking from higher up and running down to a lower level. Dry the area and watch carefully.

I have just tried to fit an Aladdin Isolator and failed. First, my 20v Ferrex drill would not drive the cutter into the pipe so, I had to use a ratchet. As the slug approached the back of the pipe it stopped moving forward so, the red line was not aligned with front of the collar. I had to press the valve spindle in against the water pressure(3.5bar) in order to fit the plastic collar but despite using a 12v drill at half torque and running the screws in sequentially the collar split! I now find that the valve does not fully close! How I wish I had simply used the snatch method which I have done on previous occasions when extending c/h systems.

Blimey mate, you really know how to demonstrate. With all the plumbing stuffed in an airing cupboard is there any way of finding out what goes where? Where are you based sunshine?

WOW! I've never seen this product. What if you already have a STOP Value fitted but it needs replacing?

Is the torque driver and the cordless drill not going to be damaged because of the water? Still a great video.. Thanks. 🍀🇮🇪👍

I've had to work in condominiums where there is no shut off for individual units. There are two shut offs for the entire building: one for the north 20 units, and one shut off for the twenty units on the south end. The architect should be in jail! Anyway, to do any plumbing work, you have to schedule a shut off three days in advance, and they give you perhaps a half hour window. Absolutely insane. Slade Avenue, Pikesville, Maryland..

Good idea of this but does it restrict flow more than a normal iso valve ?

Remember using something similar many years ago but it was a kind of explosive charge that that went off when you hit a piston very sharply with a hammer. Used on a huge malleable iron heating system to install one extra radiator. Saved a huge amount of time.

Hi, this is nothing like the exploding tee, all debris and spent pipe is kept separate from the flow and retained in the valve base, as the pipe is removed a barrel with a 98% bore replaces the pipe section, this encapsulates a spindle to fully isolate supply, once the handle is fitting you then open and close as a regular ball valve, however EasyFit is also WRAS approved as a stopcock. Warrantied for 10-years.

No Skulduggery.... which means in layman's terms, underhanded or unscrupulous behaviour or trickery. Great video and I can't wait to use that word. Great video. I hope I can buy these in Canada...

Hi could this be used as a permanent fit or is it just for a temporary fit? As in could I remove the stopcock and use this instead
