This is a floating floor, and this material expands alot when it gets warm in the house then contracts small again when it's cool. Even when your gluing you should have a little space on each side do it can move. If iui t cant expand to vfc the sides when its warm, the only way to go is up. And can make the planks all come apart

Overall a good job. I think you should do another but be more methodical in your approach to the video so that you include the steps. I messed up when I did mine as I didn't realise I should keep that gap for the bullnose. You should have shown the bullnose going in. Also on the half landings why did you leave that bit of baseboard there - it would be better to have removed that and put it in place over the flooring - just saying. Great job though

dont u need to leave a little gap at the edges of each step for expansion. Like they tell u to leave a 1/4 inch gap around the perimeter of a room if i am not mistaken
@benernst27643 жыл бұрын
I believe since the steps are so small in length and width that it is not necessary plus they are glued. I'm not 100% but I had the same question and this is what I suspect.
@robertlawler64233 жыл бұрын
No because it is not wood and synthetic doesn’t stretch plus it’s got its own glue on the back of the tile the extra he has put on probably so it doesn’t bubble
@kaimiconstructionhawaii32293 жыл бұрын
I don't think is necessary on this case. Plus there have been tests online that this vinyl flooring doesnot expand with time at all. I agree to that.
@reubenpimentel45573 жыл бұрын
I also do this for a living and on steps you do not need expansion but in a room especially near a sliding glass door you need expansion because the heat from the sun makes this material expand its happen to me one time learned my lesson.

You simply have to look for the manufacturer who makes that type when you are buying. Explain what you are looking for to the flooring salesperson and they will show you who makes it.
