You guys are the best! It would be great if you made a guide to building a PC for a heavy digital audio workstation with a lot of inserts, VST's and so on! I'm planning on building a computer in the next couple of months. Upon researching I realise the obvious moves of getting a: good processor, SSD for installing the DAW along with a heavy HDD for samples and keeping those large sound files, good sound card and 16GB ram. It would be great to get some suggestions on what actual products I should get. Thanks!
@EasyPCbuilderOfficial10 жыл бұрын
Adam Bloom Hey Adam, thanks for the comments mate. I really get into my audio too (using my PC for recording and producing these videos) and am running a similar setup which is basically the $1200 Gaming PC from the website, with a USB DAC, 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD. The combination works great. The additional RAM I've found doesn't help out a significant manner unless you're dealing with more graphic intense tasks. I'd likely recommend a larger SSD before more RAM. Thanks, Brett

I hadn't even considered partitioning before. I'm working on my first build, though I'm no newbie to these things. I've never had an SSD prior to my new build either. Definitely gonna partition it like you did in the video and format my old HDD. Can't ever have too much storage space!

at this stage in the build are graphics cards going to be working or are you going to need to use the connectors built into the motherboard for your display?
@EasyPCbuilderOfficial9 жыл бұрын
+Makingnewnamesisdumb Good question! You can still use your graphics card output, it will just be ran in a restricted mode until the drivers are installed. Many people make the mistake of connecting to their motherboard when an additional graphics card is installed, where the PC will default to this graphics card, not the motherboard output!

So I have followed your pc build video and this video and everything is working properly, apart from the bit where i added a partition to my drive. @EasyPCbuilderOfficial9 жыл бұрын
ConsueIIa / Jake Hey Mate, you need to format the drive so it becomes useable. Under windows, you'll need to go to: Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management (under storage), click on the unformatted drive, then right click and select format. Cheers!

I'm thinking of transferring the components in my Alienware X51 into a tower pc. I will be buying a new mobo, psu and heatsink along with the new case. My question is, do I need to buy a new OS as well?
@idjekyll10 жыл бұрын
isnt your os tied to your existing mobo??
@EasyPCbuilderOfficial10 жыл бұрын
deathfromabove 101 Hey there. Your OS is portable between computers (licence wise) however, the issue comes up with the different drivers with your motherboard and how your existing drivers try to talk to the new hardware. Generally, I'd recommend saving all of your existing files and starting afresh with a clean install of your OS (you can likely use the same product key) as this will give you the most stable operating system with new drivers, and none of the other interfacing drivers on it. I hope this helps out!

Always, ALWAYS, set an administrator password. The only case in which you could leave it empty is if the computer inquestion will never be hooked up to the internet. Setting an administrator password will provide an extra security layer against hackers and will make sure mallware and virusses have a harder time installing other stuff to your system. It's also advisable to create a secondary user account which is not an administrator but a member of the Power users group, to use for day to day use. This will also make it a little harder for virusses and mallware to sabotage your computer.
