35 years and you're literally the only other person I've EVER heard say "practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect". My theater coach lived by that and drilled it in to our heads in school and it's so true. This is a very well done tutorial. You really break down all of the mechanics and techniques well. MTFBWYA

I've said this ever since I was a kid taking taekwondo they told us the term "practice makes perfect" is wrong but "perfect practice makes perfect" or basically practicing the wrong way will set bad habits in but practicing the right way

Honestly, probably the most understandable tutorial I’ve seen so far. I have a lot of martial arts experience and I don’t end up doing flashy moves so I haven’t been able to nail this yet, but I think the break down when you flipped the Saber and grabbed it by the blade made something click

Thank you, all the other tutorials had you put it up right against your back as a step, which despite me having 10 years in stage combat, still made it deceptively difficult. The trace your waist part is a much better way of explaining the movement in a dynamic way.

lightsaber spinning is very similar to bo staff spinning but I feel you can do more with a staff because you can hold it on different areas and let it touch your body

I've found using a heavier bo staff (ash wood) let's me use the momentum to feel where it is going and work with it, rather than fight it.

Great video, very clear instructions. However the part where u put it by the hips and spin it back was a bit unclear, I struggled with the movement, and after slowing your actually move down I found it to be different and more complicated then the instructions

I watched several of these, and they were good, but something about this one, I was able to get the muscle/body movements down, even without a sword or stick in my hand. So by the next day when I did, I could pretty much do it. And I have been just getting more confident with it, as I go. I did already do Bo Staff and Kali, so I was familiar with these movements. I did try to learn the Obi Ani years ago, but I never got it really, but watching this, it just took a day.

I know this video is old but VERY helpful tip when you said hold the lightsabre towards the blade. I was holding more towards the pummel which was obviously not the correct way to do it and instantly Im spinning it better. Still a long ways to go. Currently mixing the Obi-Ani with a figure 8 spin and not doing bad. Havent seen anyone else tell me this tip yet so already you're doing better than most. Good job 👍🏻

Still a good learning lesson over a year later. I got my first Practice Kybers blade and picked up the Obi-Ani within the first 20 minutes. After the first hour, I was training my off-hand and fluent in my dominant hand. Thank you Carly!
