Xanthan gum is an amazing thickener and it really does go a long way. I bought a small bag like 3 years ago and it doesnt even look used. My favorite thing to use it for is to thicken up sauce for buffalo wings.

hi, one should use xanthan gum or ghar gum for a thick milkshake, and in what ratio?
@leonflores94615 жыл бұрын
What about arrowroot powder? Would that be a more natural alternative? I tried it when making a frozen banana ice cream, thickened up real nicely. Haven't tried it in runny smoothies, should've today, made two runny smoothies.

Can I use guar gum instead of the xanthan gum?
@TheProteinChef Жыл бұрын
Sure!
@eddie1957778 ай бұрын
It's a better option since guar gum is non-GMO. Most xanthan gum is made using GMO corn. Xanthan gum is a water-soluble exo-polysaccharide. It is produced industrially from carbon sources by fermentation using the gram-negative bacterium Xanthomonas campestris.

Super late reply but get a small condiment cup and put about two tablespoons of cold water first then the powder and mix with a fork to break up the clumps then add it to your smoothie!
@LogarAcc4 жыл бұрын
Make an oil slurry, mix a little bit of xanthan gum with a little bit of oil and then add it to your blender to make your smoothie thicker and smooth. This always works to prevent lumps, cause the gum lumps immediately when it touches water but not with oil. Manufacturers do this when using xanthan gum
