i love to see you make the cow come alive with "his" own personality! This is only my 2nd lesson and i'm beginning to learn about values and color temperatures. can't wait to get my own pastels and work with the colors for better understanding. i'm a 74 yr old grandmother that may live 5 more year than what was expected...awaiting operation...so i thought i'd do this pastel painting for fun! Thank you so much.

Thanks. You are a blessing. So good to see an artist who loves the Lord. Just found you a month ago, and I watch your videos everyday, all the way from England. You have inspired me. Anyway, I don't want to make this about me, so, thank you for all your videos, and the seed you are sowing into many lives. God bless you Susan 👏🏻☝🏻

I hope you enjoy this lesson my friends!! I love providing easy tips on "punching up color" in your paintings. These tips are also great for artists with a limited palette. Enjoy!!! and Happy Painting! NOTE: I mentioned in the video that you can give a tip or a "Thanks" for this video. Normally, there is a little "THANKS" button underneath the video, but because I used music that had a copyright it's not available on this video. It IS available on almost all of my other videos.

I just discovered your channel today and was lucky enough to stumble across a video on the topic I needed, and I was very surprised to see you uploaded it today! I hit subscribe immediately. I love how to talk about the importance of the lighting in the atmosphere, which is something I find lacking in other tutorials. Keep up the amazing work! You have a talent for art and for teaching, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!

Wow, thank you so much Andrea for your beautiful and encouraging comment. It’s comments like yours that keep me going. I don’t like to admit often that it’s a lot of work to do what I do but the benefits in knowing my lessons are helping others is all the reward I need!

Glad it was helpful! Thanks Nan! A little tip for seeing value vs color is to paint in dim lighting. You can see the value more than the color and it sometimes produces exciting results!

Dearest Susan…. You are always spot on with your video teaching and such a dear and talented person. You’ve taken what seems like a difficult color theory application and simplified it for us to understand and for that I am so grateful. 🙏. You are a blessing to the world as you have obviously found your calling and are sharing it with others. ❤️ pj

It was so small but had so much character and looked amazing!! What a way to pull off white without using white!! So interesting and informative! I'm going to have to give this a try! Using just white makes things look so flat and uninteresting.. No wonder I've had trouble lol 🤣 Thank you, Susan!! 😊💖

You've got it sweetheart!! White marks can be so flat and lifeless. Our light values are so much more interesting when they have a bit of color and a nice contrasting base to rest upon :)

Love this about colour and value. I would like to know how you can fix this painting, so do i use oil
@monetcafe2 жыл бұрын
Hi David, I never spray fixative on my final pastel paintings because it darkens the painting. I sometimes use fixative during the working process, however, to darken and area or add a bit more grit by spraying fixative in specific areas. The workable fixative I use is Blaire Low Odor Fixative. To protect my final painting for shipping or storing, I place them in a clear plastic bag I get from www.clearbags.com. I buy the bags a bit larger than standard sizes so I will have room for the painting and a piece of foamcore board cut to the size of the painting. Here is a video of my process:kzbin.info/www/bejne/aomnZYabr6useMk&t=209s
