Did you already know these Royal protocol hacks? What did you learn?
@carmelitajones77793 жыл бұрын
Not all of them. I thought I saw the clip before but not too sure. I learned the perfect curtsy from watching the video of Princess Catherine curtsy to HM. I did notice the cultural differences between the UK and US. For us, we refer to men and women in general as sir/ma'am. So, that seems a bit awkward to me to start as YM or YRH then pivot to a common address. I think psychologically the protocol is correct in people not constantly feeling the difference in status but it would take getting used to. I have questions about it though- just out of curiosity. Should a curtsy be as quick as possible or a few seconds? Is the curtsy for everybody or only the subjects of the crown? This is an interesting video. I love to see the Royals with all those people who get all excited and forget.🤣🤣 The people they meet rarely ever get it right. It's the look of joy and then freeze.🤣🤣

I told my Scottish friends perhaps I shouldn't meet Princess Anne because I would not curtsy. I did not wish to be insulting, and I knew my stiff-necked American Irish self would not bend a knee. My friends just laughed and said she won't care, she'll figure it out when you speak. So I met her, and she didn't bat an eyelash. My impression was she had a wonderful complexion. Novar House, Riding for the Disabled, about 1990. But I do believe I would curtsey to HMTQ. Her enduring care of Britain and the Commonwealth is due the most profound admiration.

Apart from the curtsy, it's pretty much how you would meet any other person. But the title is misleading- I think you ought to wait to be introduced. Apart from what forms of address to use and precedence in receiving lines, it's just common etiquette.

It's much like the use of titles. Titles are only applicable in your own country, except for 'The Queen of England'. People who are not considered her 'subjects' are not expected to treat her as their regent. A certain ex royal couple ought to get themselves a copy of Emily Post's etiquette guide.

I would wait for them to acknowledge me first then if they reach out for my hand I extend it and bow slightly for a man. Or if spoken to and that’s all I simply acknowledge such as Good morning or Goodafternoon Your Royal-- If the Queen reaches out I extend and bow deeply to her and simply say It is truly a pleasure to speak to you your Majesty. If she continues a conversation I would then pay close attention and show her I’m listening politely and answer her questions or perhaps say “Yes Ma’am.” And finally if I sense she’s ready to move on I wait and if she gives some type of a goodbye or nice meeting you then I would simply reply with “It was a great pleasure to meet you also your majesty.

How to introduce yourself? You don’t. The person in charge introduces YOU TO THE ROYAL. But if you are in a crowd to see the Queen, you just go straight in as I have always done…..”Your Majesty/Your Royal Highness..…I have these flowers for you from my garden”. I’ve always had an ‘interested’ reply. From Pss Anne, because I’ve given her flowers so often, she’s often said before I could “Ah. From your garden I presume”.
