Many people minimise the importance of counsel until their own feelings become overwhelming. A few summers ago, following a protracted divorce, I needed a significant push to keep my firm solvent. The truth is that this is really not as difficult as many people presume it to be. It requires a certain level of diligence, no doubt, which is something ordinary investors lack, and so a financial advisor often comes in very handy. In theory this sounds great but if you already have 90% in the markets then these really are not an option unless you sell at a loss first. Most fiduciary say in that case best to hold all stock until after the recession even if it's yrs. Those who sell at a loss to get out then try to get in later end up missing the biggest gains and the biggest gains are often made in a 10 to 20 day period so you want to be in the market those 20 days no matter what!

Just what does he mean by "raising cash"? Does he mean to sell your current stocks & get into bonds, CDs, & Money Market funds and "So you have opportunities later. You can buy things that are on sale during a bear market and make some great investment value."? Isn't that same as timing the market? lol So, he's not into buy & hold and ride out the storm. If your investing stocks is declining why not sell ?
@nickfehrenbach3824 жыл бұрын
@@Keepit-dy3yq all depends on what you believe the long term future holds. If it's a solid stock you have strong faith in being around for many years to come then might as well keep stocks and purchase more at the lower rate then when it recovers, you'll increase your amounts of shares that you can cash out an extra nice return on

makes no sense to pause stocks to get cash in a bear market. it makes sense to get cash in a bull market and then investing that cash after a solid bear market. always get cash and stocks at the same time!! always! the most important thing in a bear market is to buy in a dollar cost average way every month. if you put your money in bonds in a bear market youre losing the highest returns on your investments in the long run. makes no sense.
