Most fiduciary say in that case best to hold all stock until after the recession even if it's yrs. If it's a solid stock you have strong faith in being around for many years to come then might as well keep stocks and purchase more at the lower rate then when it recovers, you'll increase your amounts of shares that you can cash out an extra nice return on

makes no sense to pause stocks to get cash in a bear market. it makes sense to get cash in a bull market and then investing that cash after a solid bear market. always get cash and stocks at the same time!! always! the most important thing in a bear market is to buy in a dollar cost average way every month. if you put your money in bonds in a bear market youre losing the highest returns on your investments in the long run. makes no sense.
