Even with all my years experience, I’ve even been victim to it. Probably my biggest and most hypocritical mistake was selling Tesla stock (fortunately not all of it) right before the earnings report that induced their 2020 rally. I was afraid of losing the gains that I had already earned, rather that form on my confidence in the company.

For beginners, there is another benefit to such a long-term investing strategy that "rich people" understand: holding a stock for a long time will allow you to be taxed differently than if you sell it within the year.

Option #1. Save it Option #2. Pay bills Option #3. Invest it Option 4. Spend it before inflation catches up (while ticket prices are still low?) A question on option #3: Clearly a $600 stimulus check is not enough to purchase a home, but generally speaking how do you feel investing in real estate compares to stocks, or mutual funds? I'm specifically thinking about the house I reside in (not necessarily multiple properties).

I’m more shy about real estate investing advice because I’m newer to it. I know I believe in a few principles. The first is that it is good to examine your expenses and ask yourself how you can turn your expenses into assets. For example, if you are renting and you can’t afford to buy, you can write off a person of your home as a business expense if you do business there. You can ask yourself: “how can I create a business in my home?” And use $600 towards building that business. If you can buy a home, the real estate market is like the stock market in a number of ways. It goes up and down, it can crash and boom, but there are also properties that are just solid, long term investments. If you find a hose for yourself that you can afford, that’s better than renting. If you can find a multi-family home, that’s better than buying. If you can find multiple rental properties that will generate income, that’s better than one. I would not try house flipping. House flipping, in my view, is like day or options trading. It can make more money, but it is more stressful. I have done it, but I don’t like it very much and I would not recommend it to new investors, even though there are many stories of riches.
